I don't understand the ground game. 3 groups have ratified and have agreements w/ USAir for merger. They can do both w/ current AMR Mgmt? Does an 'agreement' w/ Doug bypass the AmerWest/USAir FA's who still don't have a single contract and are working as 2 different carriers? AA FA's outnumber the USAir FA's but wouldn't it kind of piss you off if your Mgmt was making agreements w/ other work groups outside your own Corp?

I've never understood how a group of high school graduates who join an airline as a flying waitress could be so stupid as to approve this new contract with lower pay and benifits. Oh well; I guess my executive bonus will be coming sooner rather than later. Should I buy my bigger mansion in Flower Mound or Plano? What do I think of AA employees? There idiots!

You don't seem to have attained many skills since you graduated w/ your doctorate. It would be 'they are' or even they're. I suspect you should downsize and buy in Mesquite or Garland.

It's real simple. After being lied to since 2003, and slowly dragged thru contract "negotiations" for 5 years, a deal with the devil would have been approved sooner. This Devil just happened to be dressed as Doug Parker, school chum of our Don Horton, but with a different personality. An AA plan called the "get by strategy" (I kid you not) led to an agreement with the TWU, before it could be voted on Horton pulled his coup d 'tat on Arpey, and AMR went BK, nullifying the TWU TA, and even an earlier approved agreement with a differtent TWU segemnt. US cannot approach the court with any merger plans till after the first of the year. AA wants to shove a real pc of garbage down the workers throats. The workers have chose to take the lesser of 2 evils, and await a merger that is destined to happen by mid 2013. As for our AA management blogger here. I have chosen to ignore him/her because I do not believe he/she is who he/she claims to be. I haven't for a long time. The banter was fun at first but soon became tiresome as he/she is a one trick pony. Hope that clears things up

I can usually figure these things out when Crandall ran the show. This one has me a little perplexed.

In order of what I think may happen:

1. Reorganize the mess: Get rid of the fat and waste. Have negotiated contracts in place. Put a 'For Sale' sign out on Amon Carter Blvd. Someone or group buys AMR. Distribute the Golden Parachutes to Horton and his team, and we're flying again with a new owner and management team. Crandall as a consultant? Maybe, but a bit of a stretch.

2. AMR survives the Bankruptcy reorg. AMR becomes an industry leader and strong competitor again. I strongly endorse this conclusion! I presume this is wishful thinking.

3. Shutdown AMR, send everyone packing, Golden Parachutes assured for Horton and his team. Sell off the assets. AMR/AA joins the ranks of the other legacy carriers that once ruled the airways.

Option 2 is your closest scenerio. They have cut as many jobs and costs as the court deems needed. Managers were told this is your new job or you may leave. They restructured the top managers. You will love this..."Denise Lynn, Senior Vice President - People" Yes that is a real person and job. If I saw that on a business card I would laugh in her face and ask if it was real. However as you know the social media policy that takes away my first amendment rights allows me to say, I agree. Tom Horton and his restructuring team are doing the best under very difficult circumstances. The huge retructuring bonus they will undoubtedly receive was well earned. I wish I could find a way to give you my email or phone number outside this forum. You would be VERY amused. I hope you are treated well in the 1114, however you need to know. "Some very difficult choices have been made thruout this process and sacrfices must be made".. I live in So.Cal. I have an expensive house.(I could buy 2 better ones in TX for the same money) I guarantee the bonuses handed out could pay off the houses of the soon to be unemployed... Thank you for your service.

According to one airline analyst, American Airlines could be the facilitator of a merger between the bankrupt airline and US Airways by making a tender offer for US Airways in its reorganization plan, Forbes reports.

Until now, much of the speculation about a merger between the two has focused on US Airways acquiring American through its parent AMR Corp. rather than the reverse.

Analyst Bob McAdoo from Imperial Capital said in a note to investors that an acquisition of US Airways by American is very possible because American could draft a reorganization plan that includes tendering US Airways’ shares while it’s still in bankruptcy and has the cash necessary to facilitate a deal, the story reported.

Other merger scenarios include US Airways taking control of American in bankruptcy or American emerging from bankruptcy and buying US Airways, McAdoo said in the story.
