Minnesota bridge had flaws in 2003

Old photos of the Interstate 35W bridge show two steel connecting plates were visibly bent as early as 2003 -- four years before the span collapsed into the Mississippi River, killing 13 people.

The best foresight can prevent adverse events but then it is not gifted with the 20-20 vision of hindsight. It is only in rare cases that the foresight of an individual is as good as his hindsight. Where the lives of others are involved it is the duty of foresight to catch up with hindsight.
