<quoted text>If you didn't buy the golf course, you don't have a property right to it. Many golf communities include deed-restrictions requiring the surrounding properties to approve development of golf courses. Yours probably doesn't. This action by the County takes property from its lawful owners, for use as "open space" without being compensated for it. I will laugh heartily when this is overturned in court. Neighbors of golf courses have no more right to a view of a golf course than the residents anong A1A have a right to a view of the ocean, than residents of Las Olas Boulevard have a right to a view of the New River. Your rights are in your deed. If you own it, you have rights. Typical Democrats.
Your postings are stupid. They buy the golf courses knowing they cant build homes on thema and then give thousands of dollars to the crooked politicans to support their development plans. I was surprised to hear the Commission did something right finally.

Keechl's partner is making real estate commissions under the table on county related deals. The county is a culture of coruption. Keechl is no exception.

Well, Keechl lives near American Golfers' Club so his enlightenment may have something to do with self interest. And that he just put his house on the market. So now county commissioners are now taking the rights of property owners to maximize the value of their land. What next???

It's NOT fair to the homeowners. I purchased my home on a golf course because I wanted to live on a course with a beautiful view.
Luckily I don't see my course going anywhere anytime soon. However, I would be furious if one day I looked out and not only saw construction, but after construction, huge condo buildings only a few yards from my previously beautiful view. There goes 75% of the property value in my opinion.
Bob -- If you wanted to guarantee a golf course view, you should have bought in a development that included an ownership stake in the course. It's like someone complaining that they lost an ocean view because a taller building was built to the east of theirs. You bought the condo, not a perpetual right to the view.

See www.SaveBocaRatonGreenSpace.org in order to see how the city of Boca Raton rubber-stanmps their development approvals, including golf course conversions. It appears that for all of the bad-mouthing that Boca P&Z members state about Ft. Lauderdale and Broward Co., that now Broward County is not listening blindly to their political developer/supporters and they are protecting green space, as it was originally intended to preverce the quality of life for their residents. Come-on Boca, step-up tot he plate and do the right thing with the Boca Teeca golf course---keep it green!
