Stop blaming the United States Postal Service for how badly it's run; start first with the United States government.

First of all the problems with the USPS were not started by the U.S. Government, but by local government and the main and number one culprit is the 911 addressing authorities there. If you are told that you can not deliver a letter or article to an address because the local officials claim that it does not exist because it is not a part of their addressing system and even though you know the address and everything else about the addressee. The local authorities are refusing to allow the delivery of the item to it's address because it is not a 911 address that they issued. That is what we call interferring with the delivery of the mail. And if they are not interferring with the delivery of the mail then they are making an attempt at regulating speech, both of which are crimes. But then there are the other aspects of this problem such as violating a federally protected contract, fraud, attempted fraud, tampering with Private communications, and the list goes on and on. The problems that the U.S.P.S. are having are strictly due to the local government and not with the federal government except the federal government does not seem to be enforcing the laws. If you want to destroy a country then the best way to do that is to disrupt their communications networks. And the local county governments accross this country have done just that with the way that they implemented 911 addressing. The economy went to hell and so did the safety of this country at the same time. The housing industry, and banking industry and everyone else that received a government bailout from the tax payer's were with us all the time, but the one thing that did change was addressing and that is what got this so-called recession going and the funny part is that the people who can stop the problem think that the only solution for them now is to let it go, and the problem with that is that it will not stop until the addressing problem is corrected, because of the many breaches in the public trust that occured and are still occuring. Rural America does take things very personal and they do not forget. And trying to enforce these improper actions by force only makes the situation worse. World War I and II were won because the people were with the government. If the people are not a partner, but are being made slaves of a system. Then the system is doomed. The federal government should just delivery a persons mail and not waste money and time trying to determine if a persons address is acceptable.

The post office is obsolete and should be abolished. Technology has replaced this dinosaur and propping it (and it's bloated unions) up with tax dollars is going to be a never ending, money sucking black hole. They need to set a date to stop taking mail in and 30 days later completely close the whole operation, dismantling the unions and canceling all pensions and benefits to past or present employees. It's done, it's over, it needs to completely go away. As a taxpayer I do not want to be supporting an obsolete business or the people who once worked there, they were paid for their work when they worked there we don't owe them any more than that.

This is about local politicians changing the names and addresses all accross america and expecting no consequences for this actions. You go to a rural area and try sorting the mail for delivery and every address starts out with cr or pvt and you will get a case of double vision pretty soon. The federal government should do what President Reagon did when the Air Traffic Controllers went on strike and disrupted flying. The federal government should take back the USPS and make it a branch of the federal government and stop the local and state governments ability to interfere with the delivery of the mail. If a letter is addressed with a known address whether that address is a 911 address or not the mail should be delivered to that address. I do not think that people in Rural areas need someone to tell them where they live. And I do not believe that anyone who lives in rural areas are too stupid to name their roads. So! Why are the local officials bullying people into addresses that are repetitive in writing, did they do this as a joke, because this method of addressing is no different than the old route system and more confusing. This system looks good on paper but when used in the real world is highly problematic. My suggestion is for the government to either close the USPS or take it back. The way it is run today is inefficient and seems to be unable to deliver the product for the customer. E-mails and other such methods of communicating are picking up speed because they are more reliable than the USPS is today. A company and a citizen do not have time to play this Return to Sender Crap that 911 addressing is the primary cause of. And the route carriers are having it harder because they are having the same problem finding an address as the citizens are having. Why do you think the citizens in rural areas are flagging the sign poles that carry these cr street names, it isn't because they do not know where they are but because these similiar named street signs are too confusing to look at at a glance to know you are on the right street. In rural america there may be miles of road with numerous roads that have a residence or do not have a residence, and even with the numbers going in order you can bypass a road. This aspect concerning 911 addressing is just one problem and perhaps is the biggest threat to our overall economy when there are failures in it. The emergency officials and other county workers who deal with paperwork are appalled at the difficulties involved with this addressing method chosen by county commissioners in direct conflict with the statute involving addressing. Auto loans, Bad mortgages and even bad investments have been around for years, but 911 addressing the real cause of this reccession happened when the reccession hit. You can not have an economy without customers and that is exactly what has happened to the USPS. It is local and state influences that were brought upon the USPS that are causing the red ink. The State and Local governments have influenced the USPS'S policies on the delivery of the mail by making them use these fake addresses. Congress is not meddling with the USPS but is only trying to fix the problems for their constituents. They are not aware that the local government is to blame and why. The local government is meddling with the delivery of the U.S. Mail. And so you know I am not my address.

I bet you worked for a county E911 and got fired. Your argument is totally ridiculous. E911 addressing has nothing to do with USPS budget problems. Guess what the USPS has these new gadgets called computers. Yeah you change an address and someone types it into a directory data base and the new address replaces the old one. Computers are a wonderful thing, I cant wait till they can all be linked together on some sort of internal networking gadget, we could call it the Internet!

Before spouting your opinion you should do your research. NO thats right NO tax payer dollars are used to operate the post office. All costs to operate the post office come from the sales of postage and services. you can mail a letter or package and recive mail even if you never buy postage. And bet you didn't know that when you send off your christams presents through one of the other guys, they gladly take your money, pay the postal service less to deliver it and pocket the rest.makes you feel kinda stupid now don't it. you can't hold an e-mail from your loved ones in your hand, like you can a card or picture, bet the troops overseas would like to whip your ass right now too!really sounds like you need a hug !

I always wanted to work for post office. The money is great. Look at what they do. Most are basically office clerks and how many office clerks do you know making $30 to $40 thousand a year. Postal employees have always been over payed. They are a private company cut their wages by 10% like other private companies do when things get tight and they would still be making great money. I do like the idea of stopping saturday mail. How many people actually need saturday delivery. Back salary down for those who work saturday and the gas savings would be tremendous.

the USPS should hire workers from temp employment agencies, would that not save them money? how much education does a person need to operate a mail sorting machine? from what i understand it does not require a college degree. the postal workers should let the postmaster general decide. he has explained to them over and over that because of email and text, the postal service is losing money, cannot afford to operate on a large scale anymore. he needs to tell them (APWU and workers) that no one owes them a job for life. most americans want the postal service to stay afloat. if cutting 250 mail processing centers and letting go 75,000 overpaid, lazy union workers to get the cost down, so let it be. let mr donahue do his job, he knows best. hang in there patrick!

Congress is not to blame for the postal services problems. There is a sorta government enttity to blame, but generally it is local postal policies that are destroying the USPS and poor management. An article should never have to go through the same sorting facility twice let alone three times. And the same goes for addressing. In America there can be more than one address for a specific location and the sorting machines will allow an inserted address anywhere in its address programing. The management of the USPS are spending too much time and money trying to force the use of a specific address. You do not see the police doing this for people with alias do you. Thats because they are better and smarter at managing their information. You can not regulate information in the manner that the current USPS officials are trying to do without a bad result, or a complete failure of the USPS's mission. The Congress of the United States and the state governments are being treated like mushrooms and are being kept in the dark by local officials who are also using the 911 addressing power for their own personal reasons and are not actually trying to co-operate with their bosses.

Congress was notified numerous times about the Postal Holocaust. Its all about collusion and the cash cow. No checks and balances just racketeering / extortion / fraud (employee checks being cashed by others / theft (real estate)/ murder (torture through denial of medical insurance and exacerbation of conditions)/ economic oppression / murderbyproxy etc.

Tactics used in the Holocaust (Population Control)

The USPS Holocaust is the precursor to the American Holocaust (premediated and orchestrated population control through law enforcement collusion / terrorism). The Corporation (United States Government) its collusive subsidiaries (VA, DHS, HHS, USSC (99-565), SEC, FDIC, IRS, DOJ, FBI, DOL, SSA, DHHS, USPS, OPM, EEOC, MSPB, NLRB, OWCP, etc.). To achieve the National Goal in Executive Order 12871 (reduce government (we the people) and reduce government spending (benefits - compensation, pension, medical, military awards, etc.) death fix it / deficit. Terrorism - Murderbyproxy / Terminal Injustice using coercion / corruption/ collusion / subversion / sabatoge / subterfuge / economic oppression / cointelpro tactics etc.

This message sent by proxy by the National Whistleblower Allen Carlton (USSC 99-565 & supplement). His sent mail at his email address uf1@netzero.com) goes his trash for some strange reason. If the USPS and the Government investigates Lance Armstrong they will be investigating themselves. The USPS continues to use Collusion / Terrorism in the American Holocaust (Population Control). To understand how things don't work or work at the USPS read USSC 99-565 & supplement.

The Deficit (death fix it) does not allow for justice it cost to much so instead for personal gain decision makers, lie, delay and deny until you die (Murderbyproxy)

Computers are wonderful, but no matter how efficient they are they can not get a package from point A to point B without using a good address. Secondly the USPS states that the 911 authorities in my area at least have ordered them to deliver only to their assigned 911 addresses. This means that the USPS IS UNDER THE CONTROL OF YOUR LOCAL 911 ADDRESSING AUTHORITY, AND WHEN THE USPS has to send a package back it costs them twice the money for no service and no delivery of the U.S. Mail. How long do you think a well oiled machine can withstand a hit like that. The mailers become leary and the receivers become agitated, and the whole economy goes under because a local group of politician attacked our country simply because they claim to be the law instead of following the law. CR #### is a designation at most and not the name of any road that does not flat out belong to the county. And then even the County government can not cancel a contract in this country that they have entered into. So! If you do not have the legal right to break a contract then how can a government enttity use 911 addressing to break a legally binding contract of a road name that they entered into. The simple truth is that they can not. The USPS is going broke over a policy that is being forced on them by the 911 addressing authorities. Forget their mission to deliver the mail, the next thing you know is that your mail will be delivered based on your nationality.

I think he ment he would not approve of a tax payer bailout for the post office. I would not either. And for what ever reason the postal workers themselves seem to play off the fact that they are pseudo government workers. That's were much of the arrogance comes from. They think they are untouchable.

I have never seen such a large company exhibit so much attitude and an unwieldly sense of entitlement. It seems to have been passed down from generation of worker to generation of worker. They look at the public and customer as the enemy. Management and the union have always let their internal battles spill out on the public with attitude and poor service.

No bailout would be a wake up call to contract more parts of the service and hopefully bring in competition. I'd rather see a deal cut so you pay one fee and then pick your carrier to deliver. You literally should be able to buy one stamp and put in a Fed Ex box, Ups or USPS box. Better yet, eliminate the carriers and turn the delivery over to those companies. Just an idea but I would not approve of a bailout for the USPS.

Maybe not all over but in certain area's I bet you they could. We have UPS trucks in the neighborhood all day which already means the USPS is loosing out to competition. I see them deliver a bubble lined legal paper sized envelopes all day long. UPS could throw in a deal that the same people/companies that use them regularly for larger stuff could get a deal on smaller letters.

While one guy is delivering the packages another could do letters. This would be limited but as soon as they work out the kinks they could do it as well and possibly even cheaper than the USPS. At first it would only in areas where they already have a lot of business.

UPS could definitely take over the logistical/office end of the business. But letters would take some time.

Did you know that fed-ex and ups drive up to our back docks several times a day and drop off parcels to be delivered by USPS employees?
wonder why?

cause we go there anyway. Its cheaper for USPS to do it, rather than fed ex or usps.
Think if the usps was abandoned that postal prices would be lower? HA. Think again.
City delivery would be fine, but if you live out in the rural areas? Up a large hill? Out in the sticks?

Good luck.
Universal service will be a thing of the past. You will have to go to that ups store or city *post office* to pick up your mail.(unless they move it to another city that would be more cost effective to operate.
yeah. Like I said, Good luck with that.
