so assessments are going up 40-42% on average and the mill rate is going down less than 30%? homeowners getting hosed again.

Yes, and good luck fighting the increase. The majority of increase is due to the land value almost doubling in some cases.
Bethel has a .091 acre valued @$215,970 and assessed for $151,179. In Danbury ( a desired neighborhood) has the same size lot value @$99,800 and assessed for $69,900. Danbury is current as of 10/17/07. Even if you have errors on the evaluation of your home they will still get what they want with the increase in property value. The Town is taxing people right out of their homes, and good luck selling it once the increase takes effect. Something is not right here. |

My assement went from $197,000 to $274,000 how is that.who is crazy enough to hire these little money grubbing assement companies that go on zillo and realtor.com and say oh,they paid this for the house so this is the assement.Get a life how much was this little company paid anyway.Rip off the homeowners anymore and you will be a ghost town.We faught for taxation with representation but we have reverted back to pre revolution times.
I would love to know what they are going to do for money when nobody pay's anymore. You will never own anything in America.A car will be taxed forever so you will have a car payment forever,Your property is taxed forever so you will never not have a house payment. You don't pay the tax you don't keep the car or the house.Get it together or all of America will be in poverty from taxes alone.WOW!I am sorry but where did these numbers come from? |

Yeah, our house value just about doubled...I tell ya, you HAVE to be pretty well off to live in this state...
|
Yeah, you moved here from New york and drove up the costs by voting with the school nazis |

I'm not from NY, nor have I ever lived in NY. I have no idea why NY came up next to my comment. I have lived in Bethel for the past 14 yrs and my husband has lived in Bethel all his life. Prior to Bethel, I lived in Danbury. However, I do agree w/you about your comment on people relocating from NY & NJ driving up our taxes. |
