City attorney to sue Time Warner Cable

FINALLY someone is doing something about these theives.

Lets see...we're going to sue the cable company to get lower rates and we're going to sue OPEC to get lower gasoline prices, I guess drug addicts should sue organized crime to lower the price of heroin. Who knew lawyers were such a force for price stability? Maybe this is the approach to problem-solving that you get when you spend a large amount of your time consuming too much of Time Warner Cable's product and you lose your ability to recognize that the politicians that you're voting for are a pack of total idiots who arent going to do anything about Time Warner except extract a few million bucks from them at the point of a gun which will eventually cause them to cut the service staff to stay solvent. Its great to have these selfless public servants looking out for us little guys!

timewarner used too be the best company and sense they took over adelpia they sux adelpia was better

The people (family) that owned Adelphia were thieves and were convicted for embezzlement. What is ironic about that was they were so moral they did not allow pay channel porn on their cable network. When they were convicted of the embezzlement, on my check in the memo area, I wrote..... Porn bad. Stealing money good. |

Great, so they get fined millions of dollars, and who ends up really paying that fine? Time Warner subscribers. Brilliant plan there. The only way to get truly efficient and reasonable service is to take away the cable company's monopoly and open up the cable business to other providers. If cable subscribers could simply switch to another company's service (and no, I'm not counting satellite services here) Time Warner would magically shape up in an instant.

In the time I've lived at my place, I've had 3 different cable service providers. First Continental, which was then bought by Comcast, which was then bought by Time Warner. TW is by FAR the worst of the 3. Forget their rates, the service drops out at random times and they can never offer an explanation beyond "we've had to upgrade the wiring which can cause service interruptions." Weird, the wiring worked fine before TW took over. I hope the city brings the hammer down and we get some free-market competition.

Sue the church for supporting illegal immigration and taxing our social services. We know Rocky is a liar, pro football player.... Yeah he was the mexican water boy the the canadians eh!

Time Warner sucks, and I remember being shocked how rude they were to me when i called about problems, just intentionally snotty. And one time because they ARE so slow answering the phone, I had my 11-year old son, more articulate than most adults, sit on the phone to wait till someone got on for me while he was watching tv and had the time to do it -- and when some bitchy woman FINALLY got on the phone, she said she didn't have time to talk to some kid, tried to hang up on him before he got me to take the phone... NAIL TIME WARNER, THEY SUCK.
Their service is still awful, and way overpriced, but they're a monopoly. We shouldn't be stuck with a monopoly on something so vital -- in the hills, we have no choice, we've got no reception without cable, and can't get DirectTv either. |

I do want to know who gets any money from the settlement: do we customers get it back as rebate as we should, we paid for it and deserve money back. If not and we pay more to make up for the lawsuits, with continued awful service and the same monopoly, what's changed for the better for US the customers?

I subscribed to TW as recent as April 08 and my experience was very frustrating. I was informed that I would have service hook-up on a particular day which did not occur. I had to make several phone calls which were conflicting information from different departments, long time on hold, a week later from the promise date, I got connected, and my first month free.Customer service is lacking at TW and DTV. People say whatever needs to be said to get you off the phone with them.

I find it unbelievable that the pot is calling the kettle black, the people that should be in jail, are the city attorney and his wife, for fraud and misuse of tax payers money. Why is it when one of these incompetent city goverment people, feel as though they can break the law and get away with it.

its about time someone stand up to them and gets them i wish they make them lower their prices

Why hasn't Rocky been fired or arrested yet for misappropriating public funds and lying on public documents?
If the politicians and bureaucrats in LA had an ounce of intelligence, they would be able to negotiate with Time Warner to get stuff done without resorting to expensive lawsuits. But bureaucrats profit on shakedown lawsuits all the time, especially against us taxpayers, so I guess they know no other way. |

Having worked at the old Valley Cable TV I say that the city had their opportunity to speak out before the agglomeration ever took place. The city as franchising authority could and should have withheld approval of the takeover prior to the merger. They could have sought submission of service proposals prior to granting the franchise to Time Warner. This will probably be settled out of court with TW paying some amount of money for the cash strapped city to go away. However the city should include itself in the suit as they were negligent by not assuring that this megasystem could actually serve the city.
My main gripe with Time Warner has to do with the fact that I get, in basic level service, a lot of Spanish and Sports channels that I don't want while I have to buy 2 additional tiers above digital basic to get all of the 10 or twelve channels I do watch. Also the basic level includes a lot of LPTV and other channels that are just wall to wall infomercials which I will never ever watch. Right now I am paying with the Internet service added over a hundred a month. I'm sure that if the city shakes them down for tens of millions that will go up some more. |
bill, why dont you go back to europe where you truely belong, because you are not native so fu. i hope next time you feel this way, you say it a any mexican to there face, and you will get slapped silly |

I agree. The monopoly needs to end. |
