I don't know this lady but I'm very sorry for the family's loss. It says the driver of the tractor trailer was 76...that's ridiculous. Someone that elderly does not have the reflexes and sound mental capacity to operate such a large vehicle! Shame on the company he drives for, that's negligence in my opinion.

My husband is 42 you going to say he's to old or that quit a few of the older guys that drive within his company to make a living and tarp load after load are not capable. I am sorry to hear about the lady getting killed. I along with my husband say all the time they can't stop those rigs in three football fields and those that fly in them need to be removed before they kill someone. Rt 19 has way to many stop lights for a main highway.

I live in Summersville and agree. I wish that they would fix it like Oak Hill, WV did with the big over pass. I don't like all of these lights. Hope that he is doing better.

There's a big difference between a 42 and 76 year old. That goes without being said. Would you want a 76 year old performing heart surgery on you? I highly doubt it. Someone that age has no business operating such a large vehicle on public roads.

Are you to tell me that the elderly people serve no purpose anymore? Did you not learn to respect your elders? I think someone needs to take a switch to your backside and teach you some manners! I k ow plenty of "old" people that can work circles around todays youth. My grandfather worked until cancer took him he was 79 cut timber worked in the mines drove truck. Hell I hope when I get to be his age I can do half the stuff he was still doing EVERYDAY! According to your theory maybe we need to just put em outta their missery what maybe around 50? I say if they feel like working let them work atleast they will inlike the dopeheads and thieves that draw a state check or disability that are just too lazy to work! Man that really chaps my ass old people can't work anymore?????? WalMart would never survive if not for the already once retired work force they employ. Quit sniffin the dogs but and so something useful like try workin til your 80! That is all goodnight.

No, all the things you said are assumptions about what I think. I have great respect for my elders, much more so than other people my age. I'm simply stating that 79 is too old to be driving such a large truck on public roads. I realize that some elderly people have no choice but to work. That being said, they need to find jobs that don't endanger people. I wasn't attacking your family. Facts are facts. We all know the stereotype that the elderly can't drive, and we all know there's some truth to that. So basically in this case we take that stereotype and multiply it by about 100 because of the weight of the truck he was driving and it equals a life lost.

Sounds like a back peddling story to me? Have you ever drove a rig? I don't care if the guy was 20 you can't stop those things on a dime.....I myself employ a man that is 75 and he drives a truck of mine tell ya what he can drive better than most I've seen! Maybe cause he has been behind the wheel of one for over 40 years? So don't give me the stereotype crap! Yes some people are poor drivers much like some people like to shoot their mouth off about situations they know nothing about. So this is goodbye and good riddance from me....

So because there are too many stop lights. in and around summersville, they are allowed to run over and kill whoever they please? If people would stop making excuses and hold people responsible, maybe people would quit being slaughtered on our roads. you cant run almost completely over a vehicle and kill someone and then blame it on stop lights.
I have been a firefighter for over ten years and I have seen the destruction these semi's cause. The drivers of these big trucks don't have to worry, they can run over someone and kill them, and they won't even get a scratch.
To hear you people blame it on too many stop lights is just plain ignorant. Maybe if they didn't run 75-80 miles an hour they could stop at a light instead of killing people.

Lets see here, so far I have seen people try to blame it on loaded trucks cant stop, the lights, the age of the driver, and probably a few other things I missed. This was a terrible ACCIDENT, it happens to all age groups in all areas in all types of vehicles. Blaming isnt helping anything, I am sure this poor man is devastated and this will haunt him the rest of his life. Mechanical failures happen, people make mistakes, sometimes sh%t happens for no reason at all. Condolences to the family and prayers for both families.

they put in all the stoplights to try to slow the trucks down because there were too many people running the redlight at mcdonalds and too many people getting killed. obviously its gonna happen once in a while, but the solution is for the cops to sit there instead of in the median between dairy queen and the hospital. yes it takes a long time for trucks to stop, but if they slow down and dont try to beat the lights, it wouldnt happen as much

You are ignorant. I hope you wise up before it's your fault your driver takes a life. Obviously you are the one who's shooting your mouth off about something you know nothing about. Seriously, lay off the dope so maybe your thoughts will make sense.
