Decent paying jobs are so hard to come by in El Paso or the surrounding areas. Granted, having to work in a prison with "those sorts of people (refering to inmates" isnt anyones true dream in life, but the idea of a prison bringing so many jobs, careers and opportunites that many may not have if it were not open. Many of the call center jobs do not pay alot, plus the stress level, benefits leave alot to be desired. Good job!

got to love big money 64 mil, wow!! Couldn't they have built a couple schools and libraries in Chaprral. Maybe a huge city park and events center..........64 million dollars could have been better spent in Chapparal

Good point. This generates jobs for the city but how much is it costing the taxpayers? Most prisons are at capacity and are filling up by the day. It costs more money to keep an inmate in jail than it does to rehabilitate or educate them...looks like El Paso's job base is growing...more prisons and more pollution (ASARCO)! Woo hoo!

the town of chaparral needs something to have a sense of community, an identity, something that low income families can go and do together and get away from the TV. good paying jobs are nice but this enviroment will only make the criminals more violent
