Not counting a loan to himself, all Mashburn could do was raise about $1,100 for his campaign? That's not a sign of a serious candidate if you ask me.

Where is the money for Steve Hardy? Again, minus the loan he made to himself and the large union contributions, he's hardly raised any money from citizens and he's apparently spent it all with a month to go until the election. Apparently Harris doesn't seem to be having much of a problem raising cash for her campaign. Interesting.

Seems ironic that while our city is cash straped so much is spent by the Candidates to get elected.

While I find Harris very inexperienced, I weighed the two candidates, Harris and Hardy (kind of sounds like comedy act, doesn't it?!
I don't like the fact Hardy is a former state "employee"...I am searching for the right word because "employee" is not what I am wanting to say. Old age creeping upon me these days. I don't want anyone for Mayor of our city who has any connection to the legislators in Sacramento..that is what I mean to convey. After pondering this for some time, I feel that while Harris is, indeed, inexperienced, I do believe she will take the city under her wing, so to speak, and watch out for it. She can learn along the way.
Hunt is fabulous - vote for him. He actually knows what he is saying and doing. It was too bad HE didn't throw in his hat for Mayor.
I don't know about this Fortney guy yet and someone in one of these Topix forum was leery about Mashburn due to his connection to the county..perhaps he would be biased in connection with negotiating collectively bargained agreements since he is covered (and may have been a party to it) under a very lucrative one...I think I agree with that to a great degree. He isn't too bad on the Planning Commission, albeit inexperienced.

Harris didn't care about the cab companies situation when she voted for a new company, we were all struggling, all she cared about was the NEWSPAPER ARTICLE claiming that a new cab company would create more jobs for VACAVILLE, the survey the VVPD conducted was unscientific and was only good for assumptions, they did not get the CAB LOGS to compare to their survey, and look what happens, their FRIEND paints his cabs yellow violating a VACAVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE, he runs his dispatch center out of FAIRFIELD sending all of his tax money to FAIRFIELD, and he uses his LIMO DRIVERS from his LIMOUSINE COMPANY to drive his taxi's, not creating one job.. I had to move because DILENNA HARRIS chose not to listen to long time residents of VACAVILLE, I should thank her because when I'm done getting my degree out here I'll be back, but I hope that you guys don't put her in office when she makes decisions based on a newspaper article that would make her look good in the public eye, the existing council did just that, I have no faith in them..

I'm afraid that Harris will serve with her special (Born Again) interests in mind. No thank you.

I also feel that Harris is not experienced enough (yet) with just two years on the council under her belt.
As for Hardy- He has served on the council before and only left to serve as the head of the state's Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC). Anyone that would turn down the opportunity to serve in that capacity would have to be a fool. As to his "connection to the legislators in Sacramento", I'm having a problem seeing the negative aspect to this. I would have to instead say this would be a plus. Did Mayor Len with his past experience flying Air Force One have a past so-called "connection and influence" from the White House during his tenure?
I for one, do not want a mayor that is learning the job along the way. That is why I am voting for Steve Hardy- A man with integrity.

If watch the council meetings you notice that Harris very seldom has thoughts of her own. It's always "I agree with Mr. Hunt or Mr. Rowlett". Just sits there with a stupid look on her face.

Wow - you don't have an axe to grind do you? Yes, I'm sure Harris, Hunt, Clancy, Rowlett and Augustine's vote was the sole reason you lost your job and had to move. They must all have wanted to "look good in the public eye". Get real.

Try to write a complete sentence next time. Stick to real facts instead of personal conjecture. YOU sound like an idiot.

I've read that a deal has been struck that if Harris wins the mayor's seat and a replacement is selected to relace her seat as a councilmember, that it will go to the third place finisher. I hope that this is not the case. What happens if the 3rd place finisher hardly get's any votes or if the fourth place finisher is really close to the third? My guess is that if someone needs to be selected to replace Harris, that it will end up being a back door "political deal". What should happen is that the council interview all applicants for the position and that individual serve only for two years or the next regular election.

I have to agree that the normal process should be followed here...in the same way that it would be if a councilmember had to depart for whatever reason some time after the election.

Where did you actually read that a "deal" has been struck? Just curious?

It was in the Reporter over the weekend. The article said that there was agreement between the candidates that should Harris be elected Mayor, that the two other's elected to the council all agreed (with Harris) that the 3rd place candidate be given her seat on the council. I'll go back and look it up and get the specific article, but it was rather crystal clear.

Old news but interesting still...this is true and disturbing given her lack of real time experience. She is practically being lauded from the pulpit...use the name of God to further your political career. Bad form, don't ya think?

There's nothing interesting here. I'd call it amusing - your attempt to discredit based on fear. Not to worry - Harris will do a good job as Mayor for you too.
