The Village can't even come up with $1100.00 to fix the Pellet burner at the Fire station. The Town had to take money out of the Theatre budget to pay for heat in town hall.

This shoild tell us something were not to far from BANKRUPTCY!!!!!

We had no right in trying to own the dam. If Vermont didn't buy it , that should tell us something.

Well people we are we are and it is up to us to propose solutions to solve it. I personally do not agree with the board going against the Voters wishes in regards to the dismissal of employees that the Voters requested and Voted on to keep them in their positions at Town Meeting, but I do understand that cuts need to be made. As a community we cannot continue to allow money to be misspent regardless of which board is the flavor of the day to bash. Please don't misinterpret that I am bashing either board. I am trying to make the point that all that are able should attend the meetings to voice your concerns. Stand up for what you believe in as well as voice your concerns for the future of our very fragile economic state of our community. We Voted these people into office believing that they would protect our best interests as well as our budget. Let’s see how this works out as the negotiations begin! Please everyone stand up and speak at a meeting, not just on these comment posts. If reprisal is what you fear for standing up and voicing your concerns at meetings so be it, but when the ship sinks and there is no room left in the life raft; I wish you all the best. There are no problems only solutions, Please be part of the Solution!! No one should lose sight or forget the money that was appropriated to keep those jobs is now sitting there and I believe the quote was; We don’t plan on using it unless something unforeseen comes up and we would need to use it! I believe the writing is on the wall.
It is crucial that we communicate with one another clearly, with civility and with a willingness to adjust our views when appropriate.

I think it is safe to say that the extra money voted in by the electorate at Town Meeting is a figment of someone's imagination. I'm sure glad the wise Town Fathers voted to hold it in escrow for tax relief for FY 2012.But then again, the budget that was approved including this extra amount for 3 jobs ain't gonna be at the tax rate that was projected.Oooops with a CAPITAL O.
Pretty good reason to bail if you are the bailin' sort!!

I am not anti-hydro, I am in support of a National energy policy that requires our energy to be domestic.
What I am opposed to is the; say, do and support everything and anything in order to close down Vermont Yankee groups. David Deen for one has championed the removal of dams for decades and suddenly he supports Hydro Quebec....hypocrites!

I checked the "white pages" and there is no Shlabotnik listed in Rockingham or Bellows Falls. Is that your real name????Or is this Jim again?

Check out the cartoon page for "Joe Shlabotnik". It's his stage name. If you want to find Jim Mitchell check out this thread under Imposters, BFer, the Usual and others. At least Joe is consistent and uses the same handle. Jim wants to give the impression that there are many people posting when there is just him. I believe they call it split personality or maybe multiple ones.

I'm not Jim. Honest Injun',so you and Whitey can unbunch your undies. I be real...you have seen my writing. AND, my phone is unlisted, my land is in my kids name and my cars are in the business. On the other hand Uncle Joe was a concert pianist so in that sense it could be called a "stage name".One of my degrees is in Political Science and I used to sing in a boys choir.Soprano of course.
