President Obama will probably approve it because it will create jobs. The problem with the tar sands (bitumen) is it makes more pollution and produces many times more CO2 than light sweet crude while being refined. That is why the Koch Brothers are fighting carbon credits and carbon taxes. Carbon credits are based on industry average CO2 output. The tar sand is on the extreme high end when it is refined. The reason they want to pipe it to Texas is so after it is refined they can load it on ships and put it for sale on the commodities market. It will have little effect on the world wide price of oil and therefore will have little effect on the price you pay at the pump. The fact is because it costs more to refine the average refining costs will go up and that will be passed on to the consumer. But the Teapublican Koch suckers havenít got the brains to comprehend anything past a three word talking point like drill baby drill. Of course if President Obama approves the pipeline I am sure the Teapublicans will ridicule him for that.

Attention obamamudd!!! Due to economic reasons ayers/obama will sign it only because he is between an economic rock and a hard spot. His abrupt switch to a perverted algore green economy has been a colossal costly failure. So obama deserves no accolades from anyone, for obama and his democRat ilk it's all about making trinket promises in exchange for votes.
Furthermore, your demonization of the name Koch is pathetic and without merit as are your fears of refining costs, etc.
No matter what democRats and the marxist media say, the bottom line is America is fed up with the anti-Americanism stench of ayers/obama.

The pipeline is good for jobs and can bring more prosperity to both the US and Canada.

But ask yourself at least one question....both our govts know about the massive oil reserves in Alberta Canada and have known it for a very long time. Why weren't the refineries in Canada and the northern USA upgraded/or new ones build to refine this bitumen years ago instead of building/extending the pipeline all the way from Alberta to Texas?? Yes, refineries take a long time to build and very costly but the oil reserves have been known for a long time.

That doesn't mean I'm against the pipeline, just wondering why those things were not thought of long ago and certainly we can do better.

Lastly, actor Mark Ruffalo was on Canadian tv yesterday loudly ranting on and on about how this pipeline should not be built.(He's not the only celebrity to be vocal against it)....and of course anyone with common sense is worried about potential spills etc....BUT he ranted on about global warming and how Canada's oil industry is ruining the planet and our oil is not ethical.

Is Iranian, Nigerian, Venezuelan or Sudanese oil more ethical than Canadian oil Mr. Ruffalo?

He then went on to rant about hurricanes happening in places that never had them before and Canadian oil is contributing to global weather disasters. Where has there been a hurricane that never had one before? He talked about other storms of the century....well, bad storms have happened througout history. Mr. Ruffalo, when the ice age ended, was Canadian oil also responsible for that?

The' Eco-Freaks ' have jumped on any attempt to build new refineries with pockets of money for ' The Ambulance Chasers'.

For 10 years various means have stopped a refinery from being built 40 miles east of Yuma Az.

All that has been able to happen in the last two decades is to expand existing refineries or update them...no new ones. That's why the pipeline to the Texas refineries.

I understand a new Canadian refinery was being built some wheres in the Maritime Provinces.

Mark who????

And did he charter a private jet or fly business class? Does he get millions for a year's work where people feed him, clothe him, cart him around the country to promote his films?

He's a Hollywood baby. Never done REAL work. He gets exhorbitant pay for little work.

Who cares what ANY Hollywood person thinks. They don't KNOW what hard work is about. They think reciting lines and then being paid million$ is 'hard' work.

Hollywood is out of touch with the rest of the working society.

Don't you just hate it when someone thinks for themselves? Why can't they just watch Fox News and parrot everything they say like the rest of the good conservatives?

Obama, via CCX, and a blind trust, stands to make not millions, but billions, or even a trillion or so!
The facts are there. Just google Ford Foundation, the now defunct NorthShore Bank and the usual suspects.
As for me, this is number 7000; it's 4:20 somewhere, and I am outta here.
