A longtime member of the city board that owns the Texas Motor Speedway property was relieved of his post this week, apparently for discussing the dispute about natural-gas rights at the racetrack.
Jim Schell, a real-estate lawyer, has served on the Fort Worth Sports Authority board since it was established in 1995 to acquire the property for the speedway. But when the City Council reappointed the board Tuesday, Schell's name was dropped from the list.
The change came shortly after another board member, Donna Parker, complained in a letter Monday to Mayor Mike Moncrief and other board members that 'a topic was discussed during the confidential FWSA executive session which was later discussed by Mr. Schell with the public media.' Read more
