Tripadvisor Review Complaining of Bedbugs Results in a Lawsuit
A hotel in suburban Oak Park, Ill., has sued a Massachusetts couple, claiming they made a false bedbug claim on Tripadvisor.com. The suit claims Michael Gladstone and Liora Braun posted a review saying they found a bedbug on the third and final night of their April stay at the Carleton, but when they complained, the hotel did not take it seriously.

I hope they win
It's sad to see some people trying to take advantage of business owners just so they can get refund or discounts.

Before bedbugs became a national problem, I was bitten while staying in a hotel in NYC. When I showed the hotel manager the actual bedbug and my bites he was appalled and refunded my entire 3 night stay, this was in 2005. Since then I thoroughly inspect any hotel room before I settle in and always use an allersac travelsheet because I have a fear of scabies, which I also contracted years ago in India. In this day and age it's buyer beware when it comes to bed bugs. You have to be proactive. Many hotel operators try very hard to prevent pests but sometimes to no avail. If this hotel can prove they use pest control services and monitor their rooms then they have every right to sue for damages to their reputation.
