I don't know if this forum is official or not- I am looking for some kind of official forum to post this. Perhaps someone here could help me with that. Anyways here is my story.

On November 11, 2009 I joined the Toys R Us Rewards Program because of a $10 gift card offer on a video game (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2).

When I got to the store- the only version of the game they had left was a more expensive collector's edition. They would not give me the $10 gift card- even though they would give it to me for buying the "prestige" or regular editions, they would not give it to me for the "hardened" edition, which is the only version they had left.

I tried hard as I could to get it but have given up. As my first purchase as a new rewards member, it has left a bad taste in my mouth. I have since gone back to the lesser evil - Best Buy.

Toys 'R Us had a chance to have a customer who would spent quite a bit of money per year.... but because of the $10 they wouldn't give me, I will never shop there again. They didn't even attempt to make me a satisfied customer- and even treated me like a child or an uninformed, stupid customer. I don't appreciate bait and switching. I have reported this to the better business bureau but I don't expect a response.

Also I joined on Nov 10, not Nov 11. My fault.
And the store number is 9266.

Promo gift cars are only issued with specific items. The numbers are programed into the computer system. The edition you purchased was not the correct item number. There is no way to override this specific kind of offer at the register. It's like if you were meant to earn a gift card when purchasing a widescreen version of a DVD but you purchased a full screen version. They have unique sku numbers. My advice to you is to get to the store quicker when a sale is on that you want to take advantage of. This is not the store's fault. And if you're being this difficult over a $10 gift card, they're probably better off without your business because you're bound to be trouble for them.

i worked at toys 'r us for about 1 year and even though it is registered in the computer, then can go around it with a manager code and they can give the 10$ gift card on another name then gift cards anyways, that was really dumb of them and the toys r us i worked at always tried hard to satisfy a costumer

I can't even make sense of that response to determine exactly what you're trying to say, but if you're suggesting that there is another way around this, you are wrong. You can do a price mark-down with a manager's code but you cannot issue a promotional gift card.
