On November 11, 2009 I joined the Toys R Us Rewards Program because of a $10 gift card offer on a video game (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2).
When I got to the store- the only version of the game they had left was a more expensive collector's edition. They would not give me the $10 gift card- even though they would give it to me for buying the "prestige" or regular editions, they would not give it to me for the "hardened" edition, which is the only version they had left.
I tried hard as I could to get it but have given up. As my first purchase as a new rewards member, it has left a bad taste in my mouth. I have since gone back to the lesser evil - Best Buy.
Toys 'R Us had a chance to have a customer who would spent quite a bit of money per year.... but because of the $10 they wouldn't give me, I will never shop there again. They didn't even attempt to make me a satisfied customer- and even treated me like a child or an uninformed, stupid customer. I don't appreciate bait and switching. I have reported this to the better business bureau but I don't expect a response.
