We signed a contract with Toll in Alta Vista - although they have not started construction, we are already having significant difficulties. I would like to get some advice as we move forward. Also, there has been a lot of dialogue about TB's biased arbitration - is there an affiliation between TB and CAS?

I've been on the Toll Brothers website for weeks obsessing over the perfect-looking houses. Something told me to look up complaints against toll brothers, and I was scared by what I say. Good thing I didn't sink myself into a big mortgage to find a "perfect" home. I'll probably just get a sturdy fixer-upper.

I was looking into buying a Toll Brothers house at Dominion Valley in Haymarket, VA. Anyone have anything good to say about that community. I have looked at many of the listed homes and have also looked at their quick delivery homes and all look very nice. I've bought 2 new homes previously from other builders and they all seem to have some issues. The way the issies are resolved in the key. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I was a Project Manager for Toll. I can tell you that the contracts are VERY one sided. You cannot even get out of one if you DIE! Your estate will be responsible for paying off the debt of the home, even if construction has not started yet.

I very strongly suggest that anyone seriously considering purchasing a Toll Brothers Home, read the contract and ALL the addendum's and then take copies to your attorney and have him read them. If you are still dumb enough to sign it take your legal council with you when you go to contract to make sure they do not slip in another addendum.

These contracts are IRON clad and have been tried in every state they build in. If you sign one you will close on the home, regardless of your loss. Even if the home will not appraise for what you contracted for you will close in a negative position or walk and loose your earnest money. Believe me they have heard every excuse under the Sun, such as you now have "cancer" or are on their death bed, when you want out of the contract. Toll Does not care if you are sick or dieing, you will loose your earnest money.

As for the product. They will hire the cheapest contractor no matter the qualifications. The lowest bid will get the contract period. Did any of you notice just how expensive the upgrades were? That is because the subs and suppliers loose money on the base house and kill you on every single upgrade you put in the house.

It has been said many, many times here. Do not buy from Toll Brothers. If you do, you will not be happy with the decision.

Toll Brothers is the best home builder in the nation . I have experienced nothing but bliss in my dealings with this wonderful homebuilder.I think everyone here that is negative about Toll is a child and needs to be spanked. Get a life! Buncha babies cant look out and blame there personal problems on a great company that feeds many families and makes out US economy strong. Get a life gain some awareness. Did the president of Iran create this blog? give me a break! God bless the USA!

Toll Bros builds a wonderful home - for those of us looking to "move up". Just think what you'd go through if you had an actual "custom home" built. This is as close as many of us can get, and we should be happy, the results are consistent and comfortable. If you're looking for more, spend the money (far more) and build a custom. Grow up and stop your whining!

They build crap, period.

Some may not be able or knowledgeable enough to know the difference.

Those of you who are happy with your homes consider yourself lucky. I assure you that you have over paid for the lemon home.

I can tell you from personal experience that this is true and if they are starting a class action against Toll I'm in! let me know who to contact.

Did anyone ever start a class action suit against toll brothers did not see anything in court records while searching for class action suits.

I believe that it does not matter what state that you live in if you have enough people to join a class action suit that is all you need.
The more people the better and if you have hired experts and have their reports the cheaper it is. Make sure that all your experts can testify in court. I made sure that when I hired my experts they were able to testify period, not just in court but even in arbitration.

I also believe that the issues would have to be the same. Or have some of the same issues.

Like when toll brothers was sued for the stucco siding that they installed on their property's and it was fake stucco not real cement and their clients had mold grow on their homes and (mushrooms), they also had interior mold problems in North Carolina, I believe it was NC, you can type in the google browser Toll brothers legal issues and North Carolina.

Well reply, if there is enough people ready to go to bat against toll we can find an attorney that will take the case, Not all Attorney's would take the case pro buono, and toll knows this. But if we all have our expert reports it is cheaper and better for us.
I have been ready since the day they decide to endanger my children.

Are you one of the homeowners that have mold, or cracked basement sub floors or woodfloors that are buckling and cracking, or walls that shake because they are not supported properly, or weathered material that was used in the construction of the property that they sold you.

Good luck to you and I am very interested in your issues, that toll brothers sold you and your family.

I would of purchased a piece of land and waited ten years to build if that is what it took if I knew that this company was so bad and has no moral standards that they live by. Every company has issues it is how they handle the issues is the issue. And not one human being on this earth has the right to think that they have a right to steal from another. Rich or poor you have no right to steal money from someone for personal gain. And for what this lemon has cost me I could of bought land in Colts Neck, or Rumson and waited a year or two and built my own home, since toll till this day has not produced a livable home in over a year, after closing. Now if I could not afford to pay all of the bills and legal fees that I am doing at this point and will continue to do.
As some of my neighbors who say they can not afford to fight toll brothers, or pay for all the experts that they would need.
You maybe one that was lucky enough not to experience toxic mold that was sold to them. Which this mold has killed children before. In an article in the New York Post in August of 2007.
So if buying a new constructed home would endanger the live of my children I will complain, as long as they think it is ok to risk the health and welfare of human life.
I hope for you that your home keeps you happy and that down the line you do not find major issues with the property that was sold to you.
Artilce that I read an inspector was going to shut toll brothes down if they did not fix the issues with the building of the property's, he stated they were substandard. Another inspector stated that toll's home do not age well.
I wish you and yours the best and I hope that you had a worker that actually took pried in what they do, and when the product was done they were happy that they did the right thing by themself and that they can die with out guilt.
Wishing you the best in your home

did anyone ever think why would someone who states that they have no issues with there home would look for complaints about the product that they purchased or is it that they work or are related to the builder, and are trying to make themself's look good. Why else would you look for complaints about a company that you love.
