Automakers feel the burn

I do not feel bad for the Auto makers, this is of their own making, but I feel very bad for the employees loosing their jobs. If Auto Makers would get of their rear ends and make more economical cars (not some stupit 30 MPG - technology IS THERE) but a decent 50+ MPG then they would see a sharp climb in sales and profit and help the public at the same time.

Anyone seen George Bush lately? America is going bankrupt and George is flying all over the World seeking support for HIS war in Iraq. Hey George, Your Country needs you, did you forget your the leader of this Nation? Your Stimulus checks were a Joke, Americans Need Jobs, but thanks to you, most places of employment are closing.

Driving a minivan that gets about two MPG more than an SUV does not make you an environmentalist. Glad to see that you finally woke up America.

Is it so much to ask that a multi billion dollar company have a little bit of foresight? It is their own fault for continually building socially irresponsible cars like the Hummer and the Excursion. How, with all the turmoil in the Middle East and environmental sanctions, are you not listening to or at least employing a political analyst (or a team of them)? I have no sympathy for the companies or their investors that refuse to look to the future. On a side note; I’m also sick and tired of these huge vehicles taking two parking spots because they purchased a car they don’t have the ability to properly drive and park. Jerks

Oil production has peaked and as the supply continues to go down, gas prices will continue to go up.
Car ownership will soon be only for the very wealthy. Why should I buy a new car when it's likely I won't be able to afford the gasoline it requires to run? http://www.oilcrashmovie.com/ |

Oh I see the serial "George Bush" haters found their post it notes and realized they must inject a jab against George. New Flash to you gender confuse, bed wetting, nose picking, pantie wearing loony tunes left wing Daily Kos and Media Matters crowd - What is going on today has nothing to do with who is President. Your Democratic majority Congress, who has lower favorable ratings now than George Bush are the only ones now blocking any and all of the Administration's efforts to do anything meaningful to dig ourselves out of this present mess - but no, we cannot let the Republicans take the credit for any recovery, we have to wait till "Buckwheat" gets elected and then we'll break the log jam and anything he puts forward we will hail it as the best idea to come forward since slice white bread miraculously. |

World's smallest violin playing. I only feel sorrow and apprehension about the thousands of GM, Ford, Chrysler retirees who are set to have their pensions and medical insurance help cut completely if these companies go under and out of business. All along, when everybody in the rest of the world were designing new power plants and smaller, lighter, simpler cars, GM and the lot kept building bigger engines and heavier "tanks" like gas was ten cents a gallon and always would be cheap. We just now are feeling the gas prices that Europe and the rest of the world have had for decades. We need to look at the Indian "TA ta" motors to see the little car they just put out and get some ideas of what might have to be the future. We need affordable efficient, frills free commuter vehicles now, not ten years from now.
Just pick up a Motor trend or other cars oriented magazine now and you still see the 500 hp multi thousand dollar racing machines they are developing and we wonder why they are in financial straits? Stupidity - failure to appeal to the majority of buyers. They prefer to appeal to upper class wealthy playboys instead. |

Being a DITTOHEAD must be tough on you. Get your head out of the sand. Bush and his Oil Buddies are destroying the economy of this Country. It's a Fact. I'm a Republican and I'm ashamed at this poor excuse of a President. NOTHING matters to him except HIS war. |

It’s time to speak the truth. No more disingenuous questioning and wondering. No more exasperated resignation. We know the reason why oil prices are high, and it’s time to admit it and do something about it. Oil prices are high because of SPECULATION, pure and simple. That’s not an assertion, that’s a fact. Yet rather than attack the speculation and rid ourselves of the problem, we flail away at the symptoms. High gasoline prices? Oh, let’s use hybrid cars, or drill in the Rockies or off the California coast. How about doubling the use of ethanol, even though it costs more to produce than the energy you get out of it? Then again, we can go to Alaska, or build more refineries, or triple the number of nuclear power plants. How about ENDING Speculation, and the corruption of the Stock Market! |

IRS just increased the mileage deduction rate from 50.5 Cents to 58.5 cents per every mile. This is not something that will increase you gas mileage but will certainly help you deduct a lot of money if you are driving for business. MileageLogger.com has an exciting new business tool that will help you log those business miles automatically (hands free). All the mileage records are available online. You might want to check it out.
