Maybe if the Big Three had models specifically for the Japanese market, they could sell more there.
As things now stand, most,if not all, US manufacturers don't make products which suit the Japanese mass market.

Why would the Japanese want GM,CHRYSLER/FORD cars when Americans don't even want them.
America wants American made Toyota's and Honda's.
