Sorry, dear Xan. While I agree with you, the landlord is quoted in another Sentinel article saying Target wasn't interested...
Thanks, interesting.

I'm still hopeful. I can understand why Nordstrom isn't interested but I think Target would be such a great fit. It would no doubt be the most successful retail department store in the county - although I have no opinion about Marshalls (never shopped there).

More jobs and a nice, clean and well ran store with affordable items will be closer to home. I hate that drive over the hill! All you people that are so negative, if you don't like it then just shut up and don't go there!!! Also keep in mind it isn't replacing some little store...come on people

Remember the HUGE petition campaign to keep Costco out of Santa Cruz? I think of it when I see the almost-full parking lot.

What is the obsession with illegal aliens? This article has nothing to do with them as far as I can tell. Some people have to link anything and everything with the fact that they are upset with illegals. Give it a rest. Oh, and don't get me wrong, I'm not happy with people sneaking over our border.
Get off the internet & open your curtains or take gander outside.

Yahoo! Marshall's has way better shoes than Ross. Way better lots of stuff than Ross.
What is cool about Ross in Capitola is all the little baseball capped immigrants put the shoes on the floor so you can't match a left w the right.

all the guys in front of Depot have left shoes on both feet

And as for buying only "American made" items, I'd love to - as soon as the American companies start making them available at a cost that a low-income family of four can afford! Sorry, but if I'm supporting a store that ads a few hundred more jobs to a recession-smacked area, I'm not going to feel guilty about my kids underpants being sewn in a factory overseas.
as soon as that low income family is willing to work at that American Made garment plant for $2/day, then they will be competitive with Indonesian, Bangladesh, etc labor.

of course, then they couldn't afford the product of their own labors. oh well.
