Any news is beteer than the news of how bad obama is doing, how bad the economy is doing, how corrupt his A.G. is(imagine Holder appointing attorneys, who must report to Holder and are subordinate to Holder,to investigate Holder?).Who gives a damn about Watergate at this time with a Presidential campaign brewing?CBS does.Reality must be an aweful pill to swallow for the liberal news media.
Yep. How can he just stand there -- calmly stating he does not plan to appoint a "third party" (non-subordinate), doesn't believe one is needed, and so forth. For more than a year, he has not been forthcoming, has not responded in fact to the U. S. Congress. The interesting thing is that nothing has happened. He returns with a few token blacked-out pages, denies knowledge, and goes on his way.

We used to have a little saying while growing up: you do the crime, you do the time. OK - adults said that, not kids of 50 years ago.

Who says political power c
doesn't count? We all know that this Fast n Furious was a US conceived plan to further certain agendas - apparently without blame or awareness of the general public. What does a politician usually say when caught red-handed: I have no knowledge of that; I was unaware until you mentioned it; it is someone else's fault (past time person or political contender).

I had just graduated from college when the Watergate hearings were televised. The hearings themselves were somewhat confusing and the actual point of breaking into the Democratic Headquarters was unclear. Gordon Liddy, who went to jail rather than testify, claimed that the break-in was initiated because John Dean, who turned state's evidence, was trying to protect his wife, who was formerly an escort. The wife of one of the high-ranking officials in the Nixon administration claimed to have been kidnapped and the Nixon tapes had many apparent erasures which might have shed some light on the whole matter. Nixon was apparently not aware of the break-in ahead of time but his crime was in trying to conceal information after the fact. He resigned, probably to avoid repercissions affecting him, although he also seemed to believe that the whole matter would be best put behind the country, which was drained as well as sharply divided by the Vietnam War which had officially been brought to an end the previous January.

That was 38 years ago. I wouldn't even attempt to guess how many Americans know little, if anything about Watergate, simply because they were too young to remember it or were not yet born. Many older people have only a vague recollection of it as so many other events, both negative and positive, have crowded into the ensuing years. To bring this up now, is a crude form of finger-pointing: they did it so why can't we? If anything, politicians and their minions should have learned to at least give the appearance of being honest and law-abiding.

The Obama administration seriously miscalculated the odds in "Fast and Furious" and as it has come to light, answers are being demanded. Putting Watergate in the news is a shot in the dark, so to speak, attempting to underscore the fact that there were other administrations, especially the Republican Nixon's, that exhibited worse behavior than Obama's. I suppose it's all aboput how low one's standards are...
