"Tesla Motors said late Sunday that it had raised $40 million in convertible debt financing from almost all of its current investors."
I have seen different versions of that statement, with different word order. So I wonder: did Tesla get almost all of its $40M from current investors? Did almost all of the current investors invest funds totaling $40M? And which of the current investor(s) is shouldering the biggest load? In other words, is the new capital mostly from Musk, largely from Musk? Or only a little bit from Musk? Also, who isn't kicking down at all?(Maybe Musk was tapped out and got nearly all the other investors to kick down.)
Good business reporting would answer such questions.

Good business reporters don't just copy verbatim from the press release, which is what this is. That's why you've seen several versions of the same sentence.
