Tesla drove by the Boeing site in Long Beach, saw the pickets out front and headed straight to Downey.

Tesla seems so ideal for Long Beach. Where else could a company that has managed to sell 10 cars a month over 7 years and lose over $250,000 per car feel more at home. A business plan that produces that sort of result seems perfectly rational to the Lowenthal, Shipkse, and Uranga ilk that populate this city. Add to that the fact that they have managed to finance this scam with $450 million tax dollars and you have the perfect fit with the mentality that has brought us the 'Miracle of Pine Ave', the 'Fabulous Fishtank', multiple 'Malls of Wonder', and left that nagging little structural deficit of $20-$30 million for as far as the eye can see.
I wish Downey lots of luck, but fear this fiasco will leave them holding a very large bag of unfulfilled promise and a sizeable hole in future municipal budgets.

on one side of Lakewood Bl, you got weeds growing around a deserted old aircraft plant.

on the other side of Lakewood Bl, you got weeds growing around a deserted new business park.

But, we still got our hopes and dreams! What happen to the HUGE movie studio that was supposed to move in there?

Gee free enterprise. Without tax dollars, there is no plant. And the company doesn't even make a profit. The new business model, lol. All smoke and mirrors.

Tesla should get another $600 million like Cal Worthington got.

How can a city try to entice Tesla when they have given tax breaks/credits to Ford for decades.

But now want to be progressive and impartial. And not entice the new guy into the empty lot.

It would be a gamble with Tesla but if it worked it would make money, unlike that dirt field covered with a blue fence.

Bob Foster you are an awesome business man

Downey is working with Tesla on a daily basis and Schipski is hopeful. I guess we can all live on hope, but it doesn't feed my family.

Ive been working on starting my business in custom solar systems, around 30 people strong, my first option was Arizona, but their racial ways has made me take a 180 back to south California. i believe in good business and good business is treating people with dignity, that includes all not just some for the way they look. i guess what i'm trying to say is, to create success you need to be in a location flowing with successful prospects, AZ is not!

Come to Downey. Locate next to Tesla. Plenty of warehouse space is available in that area.

What would Nicola Tesla say about Tesla Motors Inc.? Remember him? Combustion car engines have been outdated for 75 years, plus but money people (Wall Street, Shareholders (greedy lazy 4x4s), Bankers, Fed, Vulture Captialists, and 3rd world 2.5 billions) run and ruined America.

This is a losing business from the beginning, the facts prove this. What does this car cost? And with high unemployment in Long Beach (12.5%) and California 12.5%-20%; why add more debt to Californiaís $20 billion debt by $400K (donít forget to add interest charges, fees and etc.).

Tesla has left the building (Long Beach). Happy trails to Downey. Be careful what you wish for. Long Beach is bankrupt $18.5 million. We don't need another $400K added to it paid by taxpayers and the unemployed.

We always knew the plant would be in the better half of the state; Northern California. Because overall we're far better than those at the bottom of this beautiful state.
