Whew! Long Beach taxpayers are off the hook for this!! It was foolhardy for Gerrie Schipske and her council cronies to offer Tesla a sweetheart deal with our TAXPAYER DOLLARS when they can't even balance a city budget. Any Long Beach resident who has the skills Tesla is looking for at their manufacturing plant will be considered for a job.

Shame on Schipske!

A waste of money. Tesla's cars are not affordable and will not stand up to the increasingly tough competition.

Does anyone know what the D.O.E. does? I am quite sure the Jimmy Carter created department is clueless about what it's job is EXCEPT to spend more taxpayer money to justify their existence. I imagine most don't know what they do nor do they at that department!

Well folks, it wasn't Schipske who offered the incentives to TESLA -- it was Mayor Bob Foster. He met with them and then put it on the Council Agenda. I was told for months by the City Manager there weren't any incentives. If you look closely what was offered by the Mayor it is the State of California and Federal Enterprise Zone which provides tax credits for ANY employer hiring in the enterprise zone. The offered sales tax rebate doesn't apply if TESLA isn't selling the cars from the property.

So before ya'll start throwing stones better check your aim and your facts.
