"They have more sensitivity to that revenue line," he said. Service fees — especially overdraft charges — have accounted for 25 percent of TCF's revenue, he said, but just 10 percent of other banks.

TCF has persuaded a large number of its customers to "opt in," allowing the bank to charge overdraft fees if the customer has a negative balance rather than deny a transaction, Cooper said. The bank also is working on a fee structure that would eliminate multiple overdraft fees on the same day, to be introduced in pilot form soon, executives said."

The stock loss couldn't have happened to a nicer company. They built TCF on "free checking" with huge overdraft fees. Good riddance to the greedy bankers.

TCF was a scumbag bank back 20 years and nothing has changed. TCF stands for They Charge Fees.

Then, unless you're a complete fool, you will not bank there. Likely you have several accounts with the franchise.

Good riddance to the idiots who have overdrafts. Anyone who spends money they do not have should be severely penalized. They are the makers of financial decline in this country. You do not have the cash, do not buy. VERY EASY TO DO.
