LU1823 will not go away. I have done everything you have suggested. It stopped for a while but now it is back. I have uninstalled with the norton removal tool. I have deleted everything from the registry. I have done all you have asked and i still get this LU1823 message. Surely there is an answer to this and I know i am not the only one with this problem

I'm getting the same problem. I just installed Norton Internet Security 2007. Everything seemed to be smooth except I can't get automatic virus protection. Well, Duh. Why would I want Norton Antivirus except for this. Anyway, when I try to turn on automatic virus protection it runs a live update, tells me everything is up to date and refuses to turn on the automatic protection, giving me an the LU1823. I've also gotten notices of 3035,12 and it tells me I have a scan running in the background. MacAfee is starting to look real good about now. I've wasted an entire day trying to make this work. Any suggestions?

Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete one time only.
1If a dialog box that has buttons at the bottom appears, click Start Task Manager.
On the Processes tab, scroll through the list and look for the following entries:
Lucomserver.exe or Lucoms~1.exe
For each entry that you find, select it, and then click End Process.
When you are asked to confirm, click Yes or End Process.
After you end all of the processes shown above, close the Windows Task Manager.
Run LiveUpdate
