note on the the Iams website
" Our company websites are down for necessary site maintanance we appreciate your patience during this downtime:.......what the hey???? patience my foot!.....I feed Iams foods, if the food may be dangerous to my pets I need to know...they need to just give over with the info on the cans and stop messing around.
on the other hand Thanks! to WZZM for the initial information...thanks to you I won't be feeding my pets something that might make them seriously ill or even kill them.

I fed my kitten food that was on the recall list. He is very ill. We have been to the vet the past 2 days. They are treating him for renal failure. My vet is very sure it is from the kitten food we fed our kitten. I have been on the phone for 2 days trying to contact Menu Foods to send them my vet bill. I also tried to email somethung to them but surprize my email did not go thru. Or should the bill go to the stores that sold the product to us. And what if my kitten doen't survive this. He is only 12 weeks old and I hope he is not suffering to badly. We are getting fluids in him with a dropper and tring to force feed him baby food and supplements from our vet. Some one needs to be held responsible, and some one needs to be answering their phones and helping the individules that their product is causing such devistation. Frustated is a under-statment at this point.

The news of the pet food recall is very disturbing to me. I had a Shih-Tzu who every morning ate canned dog food with her arthritis pill(Meijer brand and Eukanuba) aroung the middle of January she all of a sudden got really sick with vomitting and diahrrea. We brought her to the vet every day we were there treating her for renal failure. Fluids were given subcutaneuosly, along with antibiotics, vitamins everyday for a week and no improvements! That Sunday, February 21,2007 I had to euthanize my dog!Granted this may have been just a coincidence since we no longer have any of the food left to check recall information! Then when I thought everything was fine my cat of 10 years all of sudden gets sick! It was a Saturday (March 3, 2007)we took him to the vet he also was vomitting - Kidney failure as well! He was too far gone to help! We also had to euthanize him. He ate 1 can of Meijer Brand food everyday, this is all very disturbing to me and I can't help but wonder if this food recall had something to do with me losing two very important members of my family!!!

Our cat named quinny has been eating meijer main choice food and special kitty too, in the 5.5 oz can and became very sick last week monday 03-12-07 and quit eating and was extremly thirsty. he would drink water for like 15 minutes straight. He was very tired and lifeless and everything shut down on him. This is very sad and unfortent because he was a great cat and its weird not seeing the guy around anymore. He died this past saturday night. 03-17-07. We are certin this very well could be the cause of his death.

Ok, if this was some kind of terrorist act it seems like a logical one. I honestly think that all of the food sources are being hit. I do think it's terrible to target pets though I mean come on seriously. Why target a pet when there are much bigger things to get at. I don't know these are just my feelings.

I think this whole situation is abominable. Though my pet eats one of the brands targeted in the recall, thank God, she was not eating the infected batch. However, I was horrified to find a note on the company's website assuring customers that if their food was affected they were entitled to a 100% refund. What good does it do a customer to have a refund on the food when their beloved pet is dead? How could a company possible suggest that this is supposed to appease the public?

I just heard the news at 11 and rushed here to find out what brands were involved. Thanks to wjzz for providing them. My heart goes out to all of you who have lost a beloved pet. My two dogs have been eating Alpo which is not on the list, but until this clears up, I'll be cooking for them.
It sounds extreme, but those of you who consider your pets as "family" will understand.

A couple of years ago my family adopted a chihuahua from the pound, we named him ricky and he became my little baby. He slept in my bed every night and he always went every where with me. When he started getting sick he was vomitting constantly and he hardly ate, and we thought he had worms so we gave him meds for it but he never got better he just got worse, so we took him to the vet and they ran blood test after blood test and couldn't figure as to what the cause was so our vet gave us antibiotics and this special food to get his weight and strength back up, this food is filled with extra fats and protiens, so we stopped feeding him the ol'roy food we had him on and he started to get better. Well the food the vet gave us was only temporary because of all the added fat would eventually make him over weight and he was a small dog so we had to feed him something else. So my mom went to petsmart and found this natural choice food with vegtables and all this healthy ingrediants, and he ate it and we thought that he was just sick and he was over it now, well shortly after he started on this new food he went backwards very quickly, so quickly that the meds didn't work and his kidney was failing and so was his liver, he started to vomit blood and stopped eating all together, he started to hide under my parents bed and in our spare bedroom, i believe he did this because he knew he was going to die. That night i had to make the most horrible heart breaking decision of my life, we had to put ricky to sleep. The next day we took ricky to the vet i sat next to him and never left his side, the vet gave him an injection and i watched my poor little baby just slowly lay down and the whole time he's giving me this look and i can still see today it was the look of relief but then again i saw it as the look of betrayal and sadness because i just felt like i was giving up on him that i was just letting him die and he was looking at me for the answer to why i did this to him im leaving him all alone in the dark. I couldn't stand to see him in pain any longer, and half of me died right along with him. i wrapped him in a blanket and held on to him i screamed and cried and am crying as i type this, i will have that day imprinted in my mind for the rest of my life and i miss him so much he was my baby he was my child. and after reading this article just makes me wonder if its the true reason for my ricky's death we origanally thought because we didn't know how old he was and that we knew he had a heart murmer that it was just finally catching up with him and that i couldn't have stopped it but now i think that it was his heart murmer and his age that just made him more subceptable to the effects from the food, thats why he died so fast. and i believe that the pet food company already knew about it and they are just owning up to it because they have to save their butts so people can't sue. I think they should pay for the vet bills, its the only thing they can do because i know they can't give me back my baby.

They have been running these test since Feb. 20 and it is now March. I don't think they know what they are doing. They changed a product in the food and I hope they find out what it is before they do have a Law suit against them. The product they think it is wheat glutin

People need to realize only WET FOODS are being recalled. Not DRY foods. If your pet is or has been sick, call your Veterinarian. It is probably NOT from the food. A lot of people are getting the wrong information about what kind of food was recalled. Please remember, only WET Food. Take care of your pets. Thanks

First- I'm really sorry for those that have lost a family(member) pet. I think the news should be broadcasted again to remind people this stuff is real and the FDA is involved. I am thankful that I have feeding my pets dry food. Is there any chance that this problem could grow into a dry food product?

I was wondering if anyone knows of a site I can visit that would tell me the lot numbers for the tainted cans of Ol'Roy. I am concerned because about a month ago or so my dogs started not wanting to eat thier food. I thought they were just getting picky about what food they ate, so I switched to Pedigree and Alpo and they ate that right up. I think that they could tell that something was wrong with the food, but I am still concerned that they might have eaten some of the bad food. Please respond back at anacole124@hotmail.com if you have any information. Thank you.
