while this is tragic, the lawyer is an idiot....
they subsudize the trucking industry by "allowing" them to use public roads??!!

mebbe this idiot better go look at how much road use every truck on the highway pays!!!!

typical though.. forget how America keeps moving its goods, it's always "dirty rotten truckers, damn big trucks, damn slow trucks etc etc"

i wonder how much of the federal road budget comes from the fuel tax and road use tax the trucking industry pays??!!!
the TRUCK i drive pays about $11000 a year in taxes.

i will also point out that i dont think a fudged log is a big deal and probably not a contributing factor to the accident( as anyone in the industry know the log regulations are absolutelt absurd!!) however a poorly maintained truck is unacceptable!! no excuse1! especially not from the biggest carrier in the country

and the settlement of 15 million....a small price for lost life(s)...what a shame...

the survivor(s) has my condolences and best wishes.

However, the Department of Safety did say that search warrants were issued for the Department of Safety's part-time drivers' license center, which is located at the Swift facility.
The Department of Safety said it has temporarily suspended issuing commercial drivers' licenses to truck drivers at the Memphis Swift Transportation location until the fbi investigation is complete.
Memphis is the hub for Swift Transportation and is open 24 hours a day. All night travel for Swift truckers across the country is monitored there.
According to the company's web site, Swift also owns a Mexican based carrier called Nuevo Laredo and offers crossing services at all major Mexican border check points.
The company also makes deliveries to every Canadian province.
In addition to the FBI investigation, a number of other agencies are working with the FBI, including immigration and customs.

He is 100% Right.
I know this for fact as that I am the one who
turned in Swift for giving out CDL Class A's to people who were under the influences of Anti-Psychotic Drugs and to other persons who were
not legally able to obtain a CDL in this Country because they were from Countries on our Governments Terrorist Watch List.

I feel sorry for the family losses but people need to learn how drive around truck ive been driving for swift nearly three years and ive seen alot of cars cutting off trucks i think they got a death wish or something. but any way swift makes sure are trucks are up to dot stardards and alot of truck drivers fudge there log books and that lawyer needs to look at how munch trucks move stuff ye the swift driver fall asleep but he was trying to make money for his own famliy he just pushed his self to far and had a triggic aciendt hes a human being to. people dont look at that. all they say is when a truck hits them its the trucks fault and that always the case so people need to wake up
