Recently applied and was accepted into Swift's Training Academy. Went to the San Antonio location, only to be advised blood pressure was too high and can return once I've seen a physican for treatment. Should I count that as a blessing or what? I want to get into the trucking industry. Can anyone advise of a good trucking company ? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks !! [email protected]

Maybe you need to learn to read. here is the direct quote from the first line of the story. " Federal and state agencies have raided the Swift Transportation commercial truck driving school in Memphis as part of an ongoing investigation." there it is they raided the Swift Transportation commercial truck driving school not a state run school on swift property.

There is definitely not a free program out there. My biggest benefit was to have legal help who reviewed those contracts and advised me to get it on my own I suggest you do the same thing I spend almost $1,500 getting my Cdl and did everything on my own I've had my CDL A&B class for almost 2 years. And definitely gotten my money back and more . For those out there who think legal help is expensive Guess what it is not sign up with this program www.my247protection.com call within two days of your membership and have them review your contract for less than $20 a month I have been a member of this program for 3 years. And It’s worth every penny. With this You can proudly tell this people send the contract to my attorney I’ll have him review it and get back to you. And for all the ones that have their CDL protect it with this plan also .(weight stations, dot, tickets, irs it’s worth it). www.mycdlprotection.com/ Good Luck and see you on the road.

I drive for Swift as an Owner Operator and have been for 10 years. In the beginning it was good. The Driver Managers were good. NOW, they do not pick up their phones, sometimes for hours at a time. We drivers are stuck until we get our next pre plan! Owners have a written contract with Swift tha states that we cannot drive for anyone else. We were provided with Health Insurance that we paid 100% for. It cost me $1100.00 a month for my spouse and I. Swift is cancelling the insurance as of April 1, 2009 and has NOT explained to us WHY!
Well, we got the LABOR DEPARTMENT working on it now. There is an investigation ongoing. SWIFT is not replying....typical. They are not answering their phones.
I AM SO SICK OF SWIFT NOW AND AM READY TO QUIT. JUST WANT TO SEE WHAT THE LABOR DEPT. DOES.

SWIFT IS A BUNCH OF ARROGANT LOSERS. HOPE THEY GO DOWN THE DRAIN.

A law firm in Memphis just filed a 5 million dollar lawsuit on behalf of the 5,000 drivers who got jammed up. This web site blocked the fax and phone number of the law firm when I tried posting it so I can tell you to send your information to "Rebecca" the admin specialist at Watson, Burns, PLLC, 11 South Idlewood St, Memphis Tenn, 38904. They need your name, phone number, address, and any costs associated with retesting, also additional things like if you lost your job over this etc. Or you can email me at [email protected] and I will send you the contact infor. I have their fax and phone numbers and I have talked to rebecca.

Man, i'm sorry to here what's happening to you. I can tell you after searching the internet and being a former Swift Driver, Jerry Moyes is in deep financial Shit! He just had a federal judge in Arizona approve class action status of a lawsuit over miles paid to you owner/operators. A law firm in Memphis just filed a 5 million dollar lawsuit over the memphis driving academy and he is the 51 percent owner of the Phoenix Coyotes NHL hocket team and has not paid user fees to the city of Glendale Az for using their arena for the past nine months. I also read he just appointed a President of Swift which tells me he's tring to hide!!! He a Madoof of the midwest!! Nothing but a crook. I would get a lawyer a try to break your contract. The issue would be "good faith" and he is not honoring his end of the deal! Good luck!

Concerning nothing for free. That is usually the case. I went to an independent truck driving school, then hired on to swift. They took care of my tuition with the agreement that I would work for them for a certain amount of time. The first 2 years they deducted money from my check for the school while also paying me back some of the money they deducted (funny huh). I have since paid my debt and am still getting back what I was charged. If I stay here long enough, my school tuition will be totally paid for by swift. I only have a few hundred to go before I will have broken even on my tuition.

Has anyone else in the state of illinois received a letter stating that their CDL will be cancelled as of March 1, 2009, if you do not retake the pre-trip, skills, and road test? I don't have a problem passing the test, like I did the first time at Swift Academy, but I don't have a tractor-trailer to test with. Is anybody else in this situation?????
Thanks.

my husband just lost his cdla license due to the mess at Swift in Memphis. He got a certified letter one week ago saying his license would be suspended because the State of TN had given NY DMV reason to believe his cdla was issued inproperly. He aced all the tests, including road tests in 2006, had a spotless record, and paid $4000 to Swift plus time away from home. Now NY said he has to take all the tests again, pay the fees again, and a road test for which we have to supply a truck! He is so disgusted with the unfairness he walked away. This is an outrage--he is a US citizen, and not on drugs. Why couldn't they weed out the ones who got licenses illegally and left the good ones alone. Has anyone else had this problem?
yes - and i want my $$$$$ back i called swift and they said i paid for the training not the test now i have to take time off from a good comp. to retake thank god they said i can use their truck

I know that has to suck big time. While I work for Swift and have had no problems, I am grateful that I went through an Independent school not affiliated with Swift. Good luck to y'all and I hope yall get your money back. That just isn't right.
