the biggest mistake he made was take a company that was already having problems and then make it a public company, answering only to the wall street crowd who only understands the meaning of the word 'more'. when he lost control, things got worse. the slowest January and February on record. I'm sure that customers and drivers alike were left wondering what happened. What happened is that shippers got smart and use more intermodal transport schemes and do their 'warehousing' on the rail systems so that short-haul or local guys are getting the stuff that kept regional drivers running. not to mention the chronic shortage of trailers in this company, and the reluctance of the company to release some of the dedicated fleet trailers to general freight during the shortage. it will be interesting to see if the company will also do anything to really retain drivers, or just depend on turnover to keep their wage costs down.

Is swift really that bad, iv'e been driving for over ten years and can go with any company i want. I just thought being so big there would be plenty of freight and no issues with bouncing pay checks.
