Isn't it funny that when a good article about Swift comes out, noone has a comment?

He wore speedo pants all the time, we took showers about twice a week, ate agood meal aout three times aweek, he slept in the lower bunk from day one while rig in motion, arrogant as hell always broke and borrowing money. I will stop here I could go onand on for a good hour about him but I wont long story short After my six week traning program I gave up trucking, reason is simple I dont want to be associatd with this type of company, he is a accident looking for some place to happen.IWENT BACKINTO RETIRMENT where it is safe

Here's a reply man: Swift Management SUCKS the big one. Note-I did not slam the drivers. They only work there. It's a free nation with a thing called free market capitalism: YOU choose where/for whom you want to work.Nobody forced anyone to work for those losers. As far as Carrier-of-the-year, many other large trucking companies eg:Schneider also received that award from their big accounts. If they deliver on time with few damage claims, any company will likely get some award/recognition. This DOES NOT mean Swift is an outstanding company to work for. They are better known as a trainee driver company with driver safety problems and high turnover. They are not alone. Other trainee carriers share this problem. However, some carriers, like Schneider enjoy a better safety record despite training new drivers. It all involves the lousy mgmt. and its emphasis on profits over safety. You can be profitable and safe. Others do it everyday.ATTN: New Drivers-If you are desperate and cannot get hired by Schneider;Werner;US Xpress etc.,you may want to consider Swift. Don't forget the contract Swift will ask you to sign. You will need to stay with those losers at least 1Yr. to fulfill your obligation or be forced to re-pay exorbitant driving school tuition. CaveatEmptor(BuyerBeware)!

With a name like Hammerdown, who would want you. Ur msg said u were with MS then Swift. I also started with MS and am still with Swift. If you knew anything, rather that type half truths, you would know Swift's safety program has jumped leaps and bounds. Swift is getting rid of the driver who is not safety, Let it be logs, speeding, unsafe road reports, accidents. Nobody wants a driver who unsafe. The industry turnover rate is about 95% or higher. Swift has been running about 80-85% all year. Seems some drivers think it is good company to work for.

If you learned to read, you would notice I prefaced my remarks with Swift Mgmt sucks and NOT the drivers. My comment was not aimed at any Swift drivers. You choose where you want to work fool!We live in a capitalist system and you choose your workplace.I personally would not work for Swift. Many other drivers also believe this.Read their comments here or on any decent trucking blog. Some drivers like Swift;some like JB Hunt;others still like another carrier.I am glad they improved safety at Swift-they desperately needed improvement.Read the TOPIX article about the Swiftie who fell asleep and crashed into a restaurant. Guess he didn't want to miss the early bird breakfast special! As for MS-Carriers bud,I like many others, left Swift shortly after the merger for a better paying job with better company mgmt.As for the screen name-I admit it's not original but it worked for the moment.I have driven 10Yrs OTR: No accidents;NO speeding tkts.
It's only a screen-name knucklehead.Means nothing.
If you are a Swift apologist or company trainer who feels they must defend Swift-fine. How much total OTR do you have?As I stated in my original post:The Mgmt Sucks NOT drivers.I never attacked any drivers at any company.Enjoy your stay at Swift:Drive Safely NOT like the other Swifties who mash on it and crash on it!!!

He is 100% Right.
I know this for fact as that I am the one who
turned in Swift for giving out CDL Class A's to people who were under the influences of Anti-Psychotic Drugs and to other persons who were
not legally able to obtain a CDL in this Country because they were from Countries on our Governments Terrorist Watch List.

However, the Department of Safety did say that search warrants were issued for the Department of Safety's part-time drivers' license center, which is located at the Swift facility.
The Department of Safety said it has temporarily suspended issuing commercial drivers' licenses to truck drivers at the Memphis Swift Transportation location until the fbi investigation is complete.
Memphis is the hub for Swift Transportation and is open 24 hours a day. All night travel for Swift truckers across the country is monitored there.
According to the company's web site, Swift also owns a Mexican based carrier called Nuevo Laredo and offers crossing services at all major Mexican border check points.
The company also makes deliveries to every Canadian province.
In addition to the FBI investigation, a number of other agencies are working with the FBI, including immigration and customs.

i recently started working for swift after
working as a service manager for the last 16 years.
at first everything seemed o.k. however, lately i have been receiving problems with my pay. i have never felt more powerless over money that i have earned, but yet have to fight for. anytime i have to deal with management for any reason, they seem to act like they are doing me a favor. if, i have a bad attitude or are feeling emotionally about what i feel they are subjecting me to, there must be something wrong with me. sometimes i feel as if they are giving me bad loads or loads with low miles and too much delivery time as punishment for having a different opinion. the last thing it would seem to me is that they would want to hire and educated person, their may lay a problem. don't they realize that the drivers generate the income.
in the 40's when the economy went south, workers stuck together. do you know the problem they would have if the drivers' stuck together? no longer would we work for them but, with them. our ideas and needs would have to considered. i feel that they must be making money on turnover, paying trainees has to be less than paying experience.
as of right now i am seeking help in forming a
truck drivers' union. laugh if you want, but i am tired of being held back and held down for the people i make money for. i want to get paid when i am supposed to. i want to get paid a decent amount for layover and or breakdown pay. i want people held accountable for lying to me about policy and or procedure. i want better job security in these hard times. i want time to see my family. i want time to see the doctor. i want transparency in load availability. if i was an owner operator, i would want all of the fuel surcharge. i want cleaner bathrooms and showers. i want to be able to voice my concerns to someone who can actually help me, not someone who will message the planner or the driver manager, manager or the terminal manager to find out that they can't help me. i want drivers' to feel empowered, like our contributions are appreciated by the peoples' whose paychecks we earn.
imagine, if i walked alone into the office one day with this list of demands. they'd laugh me out of there or they would fire me. now imagine if we all walked in there, whose laughing now. with the power to shut the company down, our demands would have to be negotiated. no more the single powerless driver but, the single powerful force of a drivers' union. at least half of the demands would be given instantly.
like i stated in the beginning, i am looking for help in organizing this union, you can reach me on this blog, thanks.

Not soap boxen.
Just elling the truth.
Can you handle it?
Or don't you tell the truth?
I'm the Swift driver who told the truth about Swift and I have not been able to work since.
SWift will not obey the Law and put me back to work.
I need a job driving truck again.
Any Honest Trucking Companies out there that would hire me right now.

Don't worry between the government, the oil companies, and the freight broker industry there will be LITTLE left of the trucking industry by JULY 2010. A little research into 2010 regs will prove me right.
