This is typical of all transportation companies. FedEx has been pulling this crap with senior drivers for years, but since Fred Smith is in bed with all the politicians, the older driver's get burned, even though younger/inexperienced driver's screw up/have more accidents/tend to quit or not show up for work if they don't get complimented every hour, but who cares, they're cheap and if they screw up, there's more fresh meat to take their place......"and ain't that Amerika, something to see, with little pink houses, for you and me"........ this is business and government getting in bed to break unions and stop paying U.S. workers any kind of "living" wage...just another ploy to get rid of the middle class and have a two-tiered society....the ulimate goal of a socialistic government....

Sieg Heil!

Ken,
Why do you say I have my head in the sand? I may be ignorant in some things but I am not hiding nor am I ignoring any truths I see. I am learning more and more about the situation swift is in, but I am not "hiding me head in the sand". More and more I see where Swift is heading and it doesn't look good.

thecapt, then i was wrong if you think that swift has some high hurdles to jump. me, i am wih landstar now. it was hard to leave. i just thought that any day things could end at swift. i wish i could have stayed. i made the most money i have ever made last week in a week. good luck at swift, hope it makes it for all the good people at swift.

Ken, I have talked with several drivers who work for landstar (they work for other companies who are leased to landstar.)They are one of the only companies who has said that they are happy with the miles they are getting. While things have been slow here, they fluctuate. One week I get only 1800 to 2000 miles, the next week I get 3800 miles. It is getting better than it was this winter. I will wait to make a commitment to another company or industry.

der4threichkommt, you r right. Swift is doing the same thing. getting rid of drivers with 8 or more years if they wont go owner op and continuously hiring new drivers. I think it is a recipe for disaster, but whAT DO i KNOW.

I was with Swift for 2.5 years, Everything was going ok-kinda for the first two years, except slowing of freight, as usual!,
Then the last five months i had a few stuipid small incignificant boo-boo's that got put on my "Dac Report" that should of never been put there in the first place, and now i am unemployed and fighting Swift to have three of the four removed. they call them crashes/accidents which by the reports i turned in are not in the slightest that.
Now No-one in 99% of the companies i have applied for will give me a chance to prove myself, until these reports are removed from my record.
i am basicly homeless living on my sister in laws floor.
and Applying all over the united states for work.
How humiliated i am....and frustrated with Swift for the lies they bestowed on me.

Robyn,

Swift must abide by DOT regulations. They have to report anything you did that is preventable. Drivers' don't always agree but you can appeal it if you don't think it's right. 99% of the time though, they are right and the driver is wrong. Sorry!
