Grocery chain Supervalu Inc. said Tuesday that its fiscal first-quarter profit dropped 30 percent as sales and profit margins softened as it cut prices and spent more on promotions.

I for one stopped shopping at Jewel when they discontinued accepting expired coupoons. In almost every other region of the country, grocery stores have double coupon days. No stores here offer the same thing, but at least Jewel used to take expired coupons. Since they decided to stop this practice, I have decided to shop elsewhere.
