Quit blasting owners of Hummers. I don't own one myself, but if someone can afford it, AND it's gas, then so be it. People need to stop focusing on what others are doing and focus on themselves.

I thought these things were supposed to be able to get over, or through, anything. So why did one "break in three places" offroading?

Yes, Mark, if one can afford it and the gas, then that's their business. On the other hand, just because someone can afford something doesn't mean it's good for the planet and the environment. Ripping up the woods, streams and fields with these behemoths, doesn't seem fair to people who would like to hike through unspoiled areas or who need vehicles to . Don't the rest of us count, or do only the ones who can "afford it" count?

But then, the trendy sheep who buy SUVs just because everyone else has one aren't any different from Hummer buyers, are they.

Naming their car after their dog? Exchanging stories about dents and scratches? These are the undeniably self-absorbed and intellectually bereft sort of dimwits who haven't a farthing clue as to what the burning of oil does to their lungs, environment and development of middle east nations. Hummers are out of style b/c, instead of lofty status, they now convey personal arrogance and political ignorance.

Great bumper sticker oslo59!

I drove real Hummers(for free) while serving in the military years ago. They are such obnoxious things to deal with on our roads out here. Wish they were banned to the far right lanes of traffic.

People love Ford Model Ts with the same passion. It doesn't mean that the vehicle is not obsolete. A few years from now it will be like the Checker automobile, a memory.

Yeah, I get a GREAT laugh outta these clowns exchanging stories about dent and scratches! Your 100% correct about their shallow, self-absorbing lifestyles. Not all Americans are idiots! Just the ones who think these massive landbruisers are going to save them from the boogerman! I retired from the US military after serving 21 yrs. Now we need to go after this incredibly corrupt Military-Industrial complex. THIS entity is rotting our country out to the core! Good Luck, huh?!!

If you haven't already, read Chalmers Johnson's "Nemesis". Incredibly incisive analysis of militarty-ind complex--it's out of control.

Thanks..........I do own a H2 and I drive it to protect myself from crazy and uncaringly stupid drivers who don't respect traffic rules and don't care about other drivers' safety on the highway.
I do not off road, I drive at the posted speed limits on or off the highway and I care for the environment too (clean up volunteer and plant trees) and ofcourse I care more about my safety.
