This just shows what heros our Police officers are!

These hero cops should be given a commendation for caring enough to administer a Gestapo-stye beating to a troublemaker.

You never know what time it is until a clock falls on you!

I just love how Newsday takes the forums out of any story concerning race or illegals to keep the racist nuts from posting but leaves the forum on any negative police story so all the anti-cop nuts can post away.

I RECEIVED A SUMMONS FOR ''CHEWING GUM'' ON A WALKWAY AT OCEAN BEACH BACK IN THE EARLY 80s.....IT WAS CONSIDERED EATING FOOD IN A PUBLIC AREA...WHICH IS PROHIBITED IN THAT COMMUNITY....I DID NOT ANSWER THE SUMMONS, OR PAY A FINE......I WILL NEVER RETURN TO OCEAN BEACH....IN FACT I HOPE A TIDAL WAVE WASHES IT OF THE FACE OF THE EARTH!!!!

They call Ocean Beach the "Land of No" for a reason. That place is a hellhole filled with nothing but stuck up millionaires, cops that are "above the law" and tourists that don't know any better. In fact, I'm glad that those cops are being tried, and I hope they get the maximum sentence. I'm not anti-cop, but it's time someone put those OB A$$holes in their place! I mean seriously... These people need a reality check. I agree with Woody. If a tidal wave were to wash that place off the face of the earth, I would only smile and laugh. In fact, I might even throw a party. Who wants to come?

Agreed. stop the bullshiiit. SCPD does this and more. They do it in broad daylight and with video cameras.

One fellow that i have brought to your attention did it and was brought to the attention of the PD by a judge. The SCPD did nothing about it. It was a long time ago, but it tells you that when nothing is done about it the cops think they have a license - they do.

I have no idea if the O.B. cops did this or not. if they did they are stupid. But Spota is going after them because he is trying to deflect attention from SCPD.

Those cops on the highway where a drug dealer died in their custody. No opinion on that one either other to say that such deaths come from drug use and the body exploding within.

point is that spota will go after other PD units to make it look like he goes after all PD units.

when the OB case began it was mentioned that one of spota's investigators had a son that had a problem with the cops at OB. that investigator was said to be on the case.

I agree with you that Newsday should have forums for all arles. As far as the "anti-cop nuts" you mentioned....I'm going to assume you've never gone to OB on a Friday or Saturday night while George was in charge. I'm not anti-cop, but seeing these guys in action, like I have, is almost enough to make someone anti-cop. They beat people for kicks, did so for years, and the village of OB has paid off numerous lawsuits to keep this behavior quiet, and keep the tourists coming.

PETEF I have read many of your post and could not agree more. You seem to have your finger on the pulse of what really goes on at the SCDA office and the SCPD. The reality is that many people do not want to believe it. The 1989 SIC report was exactly that... a report. Very little if anything was done to correct the problems, fact is many of the same problems still exsist with most of the same cast of characters. SCDA and SCPD are hand and hand always have been and always will be... untli the FEDS step in!!

I don't understand why the News Media has not taken this News Worthy Abuse of Power and brought it to the Publics attention? This will prove to be a Clear Case of Criminal Cops at work. Police Brutality is a Big Problem in these small Villages because they have NO Oversight and are really not accountable to anyone other than their Village Boards who look the other way. Suffolk IA has no jurisdiction over these Village Police Depts, nor does Suffolk County or even the Suffolk Dept of Human Rights.

[OB is my home. its a bit bizarre to hear people talk about ones home in such a negative way, particularly when those comments come from an ignorant few who dont have a clue. OB is a fine respectable community with some nice respectable and hardworking residents who are my neighbors, and the local government is among the best you'll find anywhere. the problems thta arise are unique to towns across long island becuase we have ferries that drop off tourists hourly, most of whom are nice people, but some of whom are just alcohol consuming idiots who dont know how to behave or respect our properties. i hvae no idea what happened that infamous night in the police station, and i dont condone violence or beatings, but whatever happened (and we should all wait for the trial before jumping to conclusions) it was a one off event, not the routine. OB police are for the most part good people trying to do what is a tough job, especially on a saturday night at 3AM. Interesting how people can support an intoxicated AH, that was throwing glass on the streets. Most of the people involved in this case are my friends and neighbors. They call Ocean Beach the land of NO, because idiots like this come over and think they can stagger around intoxicated, throw up, pee, throw crap in our yards, get into bar fights, sleep on our streets and then take a ferry home. There is something about the ferry ride, that makes some people think, that they left all laws and common sense behind. Thank you to our Police dept. for doing their job. I think we should get tasers. Then this wouldn't of happened. Would anyone be questioning all of this, if George just tasered the idiot? Would the laid off cops, be spinning this story, if they still had their jobs?

to say the OB City Fathers would settle similar lawsuits for police abuse, and further suggest there were many and the City of OB did not terminate their employment seems to be to be ridiculous on its face.

The job of any police officer is to keep the peace, first and foremost. Costing the City money for illegal actions by their police officers, especially in a small town that would be burdened with such lawsuits make no sense to this writer.

if these were young cops with no expereince, then maybe it is possible to some extent. But to place a 53 year old retired cop in the middle of this sounds to me to be insane that he would take part in this.

while one may get away with this in the ghetto, at least for a time, and think they can get away with this in a monied community is nuts.
