Whatever happened to the good old days - when Nazis marched freely along main street in towns like Smithtown? When the Bundt held monthly meetings at the Smithtown Haus?

So will charges be brought up against the self admitted illegal and his brother in law who Im sure is illegal as well. Will they be deported? Will they have to pay back taxes?

"I was beaten so badly that I couldn't even walk, and I lost my job," Monroy said. "I am waiting for the criminals who did this to compensate me for my injuries and lost income. That's only fair."

sounds a little fishy to me. the kid who's charged with this is 17 so chances are he was 16 at the time. so this 16 year old kid from patchogue or medford was in a car on a monday morning at 6 a.m. in selden? and the alleged victim remembers what he looks like 10 months later? seems like he called 1-800 lawyer. has i.c.e. started deportation proceedings?

You can be compensated for your lost income as soon as you compensate the US Government for all of the taxes you never paid.

I am ABSOLUTELY not justifiying the alleged acts here, but this guy hinting at civil action for wages lost is despicable. If the kid did it, string him up...but for this guy to get paid for this is crazy.

is it a hate crime when a someone of hispanic (spanish, el salvadorian, cubian, puerto rican, mexican, i think you get the isdea) hurts/robs.assaluts/rapes/kill s someone of non hispanic decent?? Just wondering, because that happens all the time... When do those victims get to speak out???

I know, they dont, we have to be politically correct...

only they (the spanish, and im not going through every nationality again.....) get to play the race card...

ahhh what long island has become... gotta love it....

Hartford is evil, and belongs in jail. But Mr. Monroy makes an ID after Hartford's picture has been plastered all over the papers for weeks? Hmmmmm. I think I hear a big cash register opening. And on this compensation you are looking for Mr. Monroy, will you be paying taxes now? Maybe become a citizen and get a real social security number? How about all your back wages, pay taxes on them? How about your hospital bills, did you pay those or were they all put on the county's bill?(Don't worry my taxes will pay that) The money you sent out of the country, untaxed?(Money not spent to help our economy here at home) Did my town have to pick up your garbage, dispose of your sewage, and not that you have any here, but My town would also have to teach your children. Our police force and court system, were working and will be for some time now it seems, for you Mr. Monroy. All for FREE. Because you, Mr. Monroy, DON'T PAY TAXES. Me and every other legal citizen are paying and making up for the taxes YOU DON'T PAY. So when you sue, Mr. Monroy, and get your big settlement check, think about paying back all the services you have been getting free for the last three years. I mean as you say yourself, "It's only fair". Oh, and now multiply Mr. Monroy by millions across this country, and think about it when your taxes are increased.

Here is the problem. People are fed up with the governments approach to illegal immigration. There isn't one. They(the government) turn a blind eye to it and deem it a necessary wrong. I do not condone violence in any way shape or form. People are now taking matters into their on hands, much like a vigilante or lynch mob. This is the wrong approach. If the government wants to look into unreported hate crimes, well I think that a a step in the right direction. As long as they uphold the law they swore to do, and deport the people who have taken residency in our country illegally. It will not end the violence, but it will sure make a dent.

The Bundt held meetings at the bakery, it was the Bund at Smithtown Haus.

Let me get this straight. This guy ILLEGALLY slithers into the country, becomes a tax-cheat by working off the books, contributes NOTHING to Long Island, New York, or the United States economy, and sends ALL of his untaxed income to Mexico. Now he wants to be compensated for lost income? He says that would be FAIR. What would he know about doing anything fairly? His very presence here is unfair. Unfair to the taxpayers, unfair to the immigrant waiting in line for their turn to come here. I do not condone ANY violent act against anyone, but just the fact that an illegal can go to the police tells me that they are way too comfortable here! Definitely NOT living in the shadows, as Newsday would want us to believe.

I thought this article was going to be about a Long Island native. But as usual those cases are swept under the carpet and forgotten, instead of beaten to death like the hispanic ones.

These kind of cases seem to be like a wood fire in the middle of newsday. And they keep throwing logs on the fire. But for us natives, its no go.

can i move to mexico and work off the books? or will they either kill me and throw my corpse in the desert to rot - or put in me in some sub standard jail for the rest of my life???

can i be an illegal shoplifter??? just walk into stores and steal - and it be okay??? ILLEGAL - MEANS NOT LEGAL...

Get it straight - abide by the rules or get out - we have enough people here LEGALLY that need help... Get off our welfare - STOP REPRODUCING.... we have our own citizens to mow lawns...

you cant even safely walk up New York Avenue anymore if youre not spanish... its disgraceful....

i still want to know, when they hurt us - is it considered a hate crime???

No, it's because you're here illegally and you're hated for that.
Now that the authorities know he's an illegal, it'll be no trouble to ship his a55 the hell out.
4 days in the hospital? Did he happen to mention if the hospital bill was paid????
