When the head of a police union openly states his intentions to swarm a small party with an increase of 20% in membership for the sole purpose of controlling who that party nominates there is a problem. Yes, police unions like all unions support candidates in different ways. They don't nor should in a 2 week period try to take over a single party by having all their membership switch to that party for the sole purpose of ousting the Sheriff. It is transparent and may have violated election laws. It's obvious that the political leaders of all three major parties felt that way with their cross endorsement of Demarco for Sheriff. Every door is getting closed in your face Jeff. You can't fight city hall and your spending your memberships money like water. How much did this cost you in lawyer fees. Walsh is going to throw all of them out.
As individuals it's OK to switch parties. It's not when it's done this way. It's an organized attack on a political party and it's ideals and is being conducted by the head of the largest police union in Suffolk. The SCPBA is attempting to prevent the current membership of the Conservative party it's right to choose their candidate.

I realize most people are not going to read this story, but this is an absolute disgrace on so many levels.

First fo all - unions are destroying Long Island. The teachers and the cops are the primary leeches. Remember this rule of thumb: if a union is for something, it is always bad for you if you are not in the union. Never forget it.

Lastly, these goons can't win by making an argument and throwing tons of money at it, so they are going to fraudulently register in a political party just to destroy it. Is there anything more unpatriotic and gutless you can come up with?

History clearly teaches that aggressive entities eventual doom themselves by not knowing where to stop. The teacher's and police unions are fast approaching that line and will become more and more desperate as the end nears in coming years - and so will hasten that end even more.

This is one sign of it.

So the PBA, which doesn't like the Sheriff, is flooding the party that nominated him with potential voters.

However, the head of the party, who is employed by the Sheriff, is trying to block it.

ONLY IN NY.

Perhaps the leadership of the Conservative Party need to be reminded that we live in the United States of America, not Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union, and that people in this country have a right to join any political party they choose to join. Edward Walsh has more in common with a commusist commissar than he does a conservative.

They are mad at anyone that holds them accountable.
