Be sure to seek legal advice on applying for benefits if you are denied from an attorney and file appeals, most cases are denied the first round of applications.

Be sure to get off your tush and go look for work. Yikes we are heading even further to the nanny state. Used to be a painter, I used to finger paint to. GOTO work. 452$ a month, no offense but Fast Food joints pay more the that but then again you would have to work.

Oh well I know why i loose 30cents on the dollar before I even get to pay my other taxes.

You must work for Law Services and in search of some new welfare applicants to bolster your fair hearing requests at the taxpayer expense.

More "Gloom and Doom from Lonf Island's "National Enquirer" newspaper we call Newsday.

So let's see here. Newday is advising 12,500 families out of an estimated population of 3 million people are receiving social services of some type.

Without time to research the avswrage size family on Long Island I will still adsvise that the 12,500 families are way less than 1% of the population.

The sky is falling!

Oh no, you have to wait a week before you can get your big-screen TV. Selfish pricks like you allowed the Bernie Madoffs of the world to proliferate and allowed Bush to rape this country for 8 years. Jobs aren't that magically easy to find right now...except if they're a prostitute like you.

I have no doubt the welfare rolls have grown considering how expensive it is to live on Long Island. I'm sure a lot of honest hard working people are looking for some relief in order to put food on the table since there's nothing left of their paycheck after paying all the taxes Long Islanders are expected to shoulder. That being said, I wonder how many of those on da welfare are illegals who shouldn't be collecting? Weed them out and watch those numbers falls significantly.

Where is the analysis from Newsday? Welfare is increasing on Long Island but decreasing in NYC. Dah! The illegals aliens and 2nd generation welfare recipients are movin on up to the east end! Nassau and Suffolk County are useless.

Here's where the anchor baby thing needs to be addressed. In relation to illegals, the ones applying, on behalf of someone else, are illegal..the illegals are applying for their "natural born United States children" who are now United Stated citizens..STOP GIVING LEGAL SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS TO BABIES BEING BORN HERE BY ILLEGALS! To me..this doesn't sound legal...but it is.

Nothing for nothing but this guy's been living off his mothers ss check all this time instead of working. There are plenty of jobs out there just not ones he wants to do. These programs were designed for people who fall on hard times for short periods of time, not to live off of the rest of his life. He created his own problems.

I think that once anyone receives welfare, any children they have after that they should have to pay for! They would just keep having kids! Those on section 8 should also be checked out, there are many fathers who live in the house! On thousand dollars rewarded to anyone who turns in an offender! Why do I receive my pension at the end of the month, when welfare recipents receive their check on the first? Something is wrong with the system!

I wonder what towns have the highest number of welfare recipients.
Here in Nassau those towns leading the cash/Food Stamp/medicaid combo package would be Hempstead, Freeport, Roosevelt, Westbury/New Cassel, Long Beach, Elmont and Baldwin.
