after 4 and a half years at sunrise i walked out because i was being harassed by a fellow team member due to my sexual orientation among other reasons. My coordinator didnt take any action when i told him she said to me "if you werent so ugly you cound get a boyfriend, then maybe you wouldnt have to be gay" and also told management that i was at work drunk. no action was taken at any time. heres the kicker; i had proof, as did three other employees, of a circumstance in which she abused a total care resident with dementia. the resident had 2 black eyes, fingerprint bruises around the neck, and deep purple bruising and skin tears on hands. My Coordinator DID NOTHING! this woman also got away with several no call no shows, leaving the job while on the clock constantly (she would leave at 7 30 or 8 pm and return at 10 to clock out) now she is still employed and a good worker os on effing welfare. thank you sunrise.

If a resident is getting abused & your supervisor is not doing anything about it, maybe you should contact the police (I know this was posted a while ago). But. that is what I would do.

The quality of care it is really depend from the facility.
For any abuse or harassment you can call the anonym hot line, which is posted in every facility.
Sunrise has a high turnover because they don’t pay relevant salary for the hard work what MOST caregiver provides.
It is very stressful place to working (lifting, cleaning, serving food, set up dinning room and clean up, do laundry, bathing/grooming etc) 8-10 residents for one caregiver in an 8 hours shift! Figure out how can be a Quality care …no way! Lot of caregiver get injured by lifting heavy residents.
I would never put my parent in any facilities anyway. The best is to keep them in they own environment and its cost less money.
