It's a shame that within a short while the last person with living memory of the horrors of the Holocaust will be gone.

What have we learned from them? Not enough, I'm afraid, but I hope they rest in Peace.

I attended a talk given by a survivor at Centennial High School awhile back, and it was a moving experience for all who were there. I heard all the stories, read the history, but there is nothing like first hand accounts of the wincing abuses that the victim endured. She shared heartfelt stories of her trials, disappointments and hopes. Some of the most difficult times included her recovery while trying to reassemble the fragments of her life. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. I agree with you that when they are gone a huge resource for knowledge will go with them.

Great story and what a wonderful program for young kids to participate in! I've been to Dachau and that will always stay with me.

I like the idea that teenagers are paired with the
elderly for a learning opportunity. It doesn't just have to be Holocaust survivors....have them learn from any older adult. Just sitting and talking with
people from the that generation can be eye opening. We can all learn from the past.
