I've followed this company for some time. Their products are really what I would call "nice to have". That means as consumers money is short and consumers change what is important in their life, this company will suffer.

Sonic knows this and they are preparing their balance sheet to sell their technology to a much larger company. I suspect that the "much larger" company has already contacted them and said "clean up your balance sheet, trim the fat, etc" and then we will buy you. It is just a matter of time.

In one year you will see in the neighborhood of 100 key employees in Marin.

It is just my opinion however this story is repeating itself all over the place.

I must say, that I am glad that I got out of the company when I did. Restoration Hardware has been in transition over the last several years. They have not always made the best decisions for the company or for their employees.

I was laid off at Restoration Hardware after many VERY dedicated and passionate years work. This company SUCKED the life out of me and a lot of my peers. The problem is, they DO NOT take care of their people. They burn them out and make poor decisions on where to put their money. They have so many operational issues, it is no wonder that they have not gone up in flames yet. I am not trying to be bitter, because honestly, this was the BEST thing that could have happened to me (after the shock factor passed), but this company needs to close. Just for Karma's sake. They have seriously used and abused employees that really cared and at one time enjoyed their jobs and the vision of the company. Instead of laying off a bunch of people that need and want to work, Gary should maybe sell his fancy cars, stop going on crazy expensive trips, LISTEN to the smart people he has trusted enough to hire and make decisions and stop living in the drama triangle, BLAMING his company downfall on the crashing home market! Treat your people right and inspire them, make some better business decisions and let people work FOR you without having to put your stamp on everything. I hope you can sleep at night knowing that people that the people focused on giving it their all are now striving to make ends meet and to "over qualified" for anything available in the job market.
It would also be nice to have more of a personal goodbye than just "turn in your blackberry, your e-mail is being shut off as we speak and times are tough". These are people that I spent my life with, a family that I thought cared enough to even call or respond to a friendly e-mail, but the only thing they care about is themselves. I have to say, I NEVER thought that good, smart, strong employees would be laid off and for that, I am stupid. So many great people have lost their jobs in the last year and a half. Poor Resto....don't think you are going to dominate the home market like you planned!
If you work there now, I know it is bad, please do yourself a favor and go work for someone that will care and be grateful for all you do.

Yes I tend to agree I heard about the layoffs because I now work next door. This a great company they not only care about the product but the people as well. This in turn reflects on every aspect of the company it's not top down, but bottom up style.
Pasha Group is doing right as for Resto well I met some great people and I especially want to thank my previous manager. He opened my eyes to what the worst manager I have ever worked for looks like and if he can stop to look in the mirror it looks just like him.
