Everybody knows that this is complete lie. Since Clay Bennett said he intended and wanted to keep the teams in Seattle. Next thing you know, he is signing relocation papers. It also doesn't help that David (Stern) and Clay (Bennett) are best buds and willing to stick together. Overall, this is a very bad deal for the NBA. Going from Seattle's 14 ranked market to Oklahoma City's 45 is a very bad idea. Also, you cannot replace 41 years of history. I mean Sonics history in the city of Seattle. It's obvious that David Stern doen't care about history, about Seattle's history. I also have to say something for the Sonic faithful in the city of Seattle. Outside of Washington state, everybody, including David Stern says that the city of Seattle does not care about the Sonics leaving. This is also a complete and useless lie. Is that all that people from Oklahoma do, lie, cheat and steal. If the Sonics leave, it's end of my childhood and the NBA for me.
Look at these two articles, read every word of the emails completely before you judge me or the city of Seattle.

Sonic
2 cities continue to fight over Sonics
Two cities are playing tug of war with the Sonics. Oklahoma City wants them, but Seattle won't let go.

For my part, you can keep them. I want nothing to do with this whole deal. I'm very upset with the way the Mayor and city council conned OKC into voting for an arena improvement package. If the Sonics do come here it will only be a matter of a few years before they try the same strong arm tactics they did to you.
By the way...watch your mouth. You know nothing about us other than what your press up there is saying. Yeah, we have our share of louses, but I'm quite damn sure you have them up their too. |

No Mark, not all of us lie, cheat and steal, just the ones with money and clout. Just like everywhere else. But we've also got a heart (well some of us at least.)
We hosted the Hornets because we were helping after Katrina laid waste to their home. It was a civic thing to do given the aid we received from neighboring states after the May 3 1999 and May 8 2003 tornadoes. I am completely against taking the Sonics away from Seattle when there are other franchises that are struggling in their current homes, including the Hornets. As a whole it's been proven that people will come (It's not like there are several sports options in this town, unless you like college or arena football, or minor league hockey and baseball.) but I can't believe that people in OKC are actually entertaining the idea of stealing another city's team, much less one that has the incredible amount of fan support and history that the Sonics have. If there must be an NBA team in OKC I'd try to go after the Hornets. We've proven we can pack the house and they've proven that they will give back to the community as well and Seattle gets to keep what is arguably their most beloved franchise. That is a true win-win situation. |
