Chicagoland's first Sonic will open in Aurora

Aurora, you are the chosen one. Sonic Drive-In, a popular fast-food restaurant downstate, is opening its first site in the Chicagoland area here in Aurora. via Beacon News

So agree with "The Moose". We are very tired of watching Peoria area Sonic marketing, and receiving Peoria area coupons to Sonic. 65 miles away is just a tad far for the "convenience" of a drive-in.
So, it's finally coming to "our area". Aurora is 68 miles away. Some times, small towns just can't win.
Lived in the Nashville, TN market over a decade ago and really enjoyed our local Sonic. We travel and enjoy Sonic all over the country. But, not at home since we moved to Dwight, IL.
Guess we'll just stick to Culvers; the logical answer to McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, KFC and Taco Bell.

I live about 2 min walking from the Butterfield and Kirk intersection. The foundation is down and it looks as though it could be a sonics. There are no signs up, but this is the most logical location to put one up. Needless to say I'm pretty psyched. I'm hoping for an opening mid-late July.

didn't know y'all didn't have sonic up there in chicago, wow! we have them all over the place down here in tn, just a funny story because their food is not that great but their shakes and sundaes and especially cherry lime ades are delicious, me and the kids went there one day and each ordered cheddar peppers with ranch dressing and a large cherry lime ade and they were all we aren't serving any drinks today, we're out of drinks... i was like wtf!!!!! why in the h.e.double hockey sticks do you think people go to sonic!!!! it's for the drinks!!!

I love Sonic...especially the cherry limeades and the breakfast toaster sandwiches...I am SO HAPPY we are going to have a Sonic close by! Whenever I am in Tennessee (which is a lot), I am always going to Sonic...they have them everywhere....I never could understand why we had to watch the TV ads up here all the time when we couldn't even go there! I read in the newspaper that they are opening several in the Chicago area over the next year, but the Aurora one will be the first to open!

Sonic building is up, bricked and under roof. Looks like the parking lot is being prepared for asphalt. It's located just South of the new Walgreens on the East end of the Super Walmart parking lot (Kirk and Butterfield). No sign as to when it's opening and still nothing listed on their website.

Great! We love Sonic and glad to see them finally enter the Chicagoland market. This ought to send a chill up Steak and Shake's spine!
