Setting the Price on Scribd

I'm having the experience of seeing 1,000s of people viewing my publications, but not a single sale so far! Are Scribd viewers just looking for freebies? Anybody with any similar experiences to tell?

I've just started so I can't tell, but I'm getting suspicious. Apparently there's no way to tell what's selling because only reads are counted, not sells. Some authors are bragging about large sells, but they would do that in any case wouldn't they.
I opened up one file that supposedly had thousands of hits and it was unreadable. Even covering my entire computer screen, the print was too small and blurry. The title was a popular subject (manga), so maybe that was it.
I wonder if this is connected with the published downturn of traffic? I hope not. It's a great concept.
