Another one of Robert Sayre's legacies is the mansion he built for his family in the 1850s at Third and Wyandotte streets in Bethlehem. It has now been restored and is now the Sayre Mansion inn: http://www.sayremansion.com/index.htm . It was within half a block of the Lehigh Valley Railroad offices at Brighton and Wyandotte.
PS So glad to see Frank Whelan writing history pieces again!
