I praise this owner, He is not like these big companys that raise there price at a drop of a hat. He is looking out for his customers and trying to do the best he can.. We all need to go to this place and support him

I feel sad for the coffee guys. Clearly coffee in America has been upgraded immensely. It is difficult to find a bad cup of coffee. The specialty stores are in a bind. They offer a premium product at a sometimes premium price. Their customers are upper-middle class which means a premium location with outrageous rents. You have to sell a lot of coffee to cover the rent.
I'm surprised there are no premium coffee push carts.

Push carts, A GREAT Idea!
I miss the years when my dad and I would be able to go and sit for hours and have cigs and coffee. Of course we would tip very well.

Coffee is the most profitable item in a restaurant or coffee shop.
In the good old days most restaurants follow the American Coffee Institute rule of 60 cups per lbs. Then the MBA geniuses of Nestle and General Foods(Kraft) came out with high hield coffee. Up to 80 cups per lbs. Remember when coffee was sold by the lb now sold in 1/2lb 3/4lbs. The delicious good to the last drop Maxwell House is mostly made with robustas beans which are the cheapest on the market. So much for quality ?For a restaurant here the calculation. If they purchase coffee lets say @$5.00 a lbs div by 60 for a good cup the cost is .09 cents per cup plus sugar and milk/cream you maybe up to .15/.20 cents per cup. WIth the dishwater that most restaurant serve including the fast food. You are looking at a cost of 5.00 div 80/100 .12/.17 cents per cup. What are these people talking about. Coffee as always been a scan. The donut shop make up to 45% of their business profit with coffee.

These places don't do a good job of advertising. I didn't know there were any of these local coffee shops down here.

Great News knowing that the coffee rip-off mafia such as Starbucks is taking a hit. Buying a Frappay Loopy Enchelada Cappachino for $4.00 is so stupid. Want a real cup of coffee with a buzz?? Go to 7-11.

Why pay high prices for tea and coffee on the way to work when you can brew your own at home for 1/4 of the cost. Some of the first things to be cut down on in an economic downturn are takeout coffee, power lunches, and dry cleaning. Those businesses will be hit hard and have to bring down prices to where they should have been all along, instead of gouging the public.

Brew your own coffee and put it in a thermos. Thats a tank of gas per month.

Premium coffee sold at these shops does have quite a profit margin. It's one of those things people are paying for in convenience and atmosphere instead of saving lots of money and making at home. It's like movie theaters: everyone knows (or should know) that paying close to $10 to see a movie plus the 500% markup on popcorn, drinks and candy is a rip, but they do it anyway, just for entertainment.
