Satyam pays less for L1 visa holders

Satyam pays less for L1 visa holders, they made salary revision for H1 visa holders because of the Fed government and Dept of Labour. But for L1 visa holders they are paying less even if the for less experience person, less technical person. I dont know how management made such a stupid decision. They said they will revise it soon but nothing happened till now as usual.

why you are posting this issue in public, talk to your HR. if you dont like the HR policies then there is way to communicate. but not in public forums which represents your immaturity and cheap mentality.

I find it right to discuss these issues in public as we live in a democratic society. There is nothing wrong in discussing issues that are of greater concern to employees on L1. Let whole world know how few companies exploit policies to their benefit.
Rather than calling him cheap mentality, you better think out of the box Bose.

every company is like this.... wherever you go.
you should first discuss with your HR before coming to onsite. entire world knows about all the companies...its not just satyam.
if you feel that specific employer is better than this.. then resign and join in the better company.

I dont agree that L1 get less, there are many factors which decided each salary, all companies do the same calculation, if u dont like quit and join who offer you more.

Hi guys, I agree with Bose. Rather than accusing the organisation for everything, concentrate on the work. If you are not satisfied then move ahead and chose a better company to work with.

I was with 'em.
Salary was toooooooo low.
So I found another and resigned.
When resigned, they raised almost 35 percent yearly salary raise which I never accepted.

So guys, if you really KNOW (not feel) what you worth, kick their ass by finding a better one. But I seen most of the Cognizant DNA's are average and below average and thats what Cognizant Mgmt wants too. Such guys better shut up and continue washing your task masters feet.

Hope this helps someone.

The L1 visa holders where I work are quite competent, but earn $7 an hour. This might be acceptable to them, but not to me. I can't compete at $7 an hour. They live 4 to a single bedroom apartment, I have children and a wife. The company wins, the Visa holder is happy, but it makes it impossible to feed my family.

This is what people do. On floor attrition has always been above 40% almost in every ODC.... so ppl do both criticize and quit... Had I not been onsite, would have done same...

Also it is a 'Telugunized' company... Telugu ppl has good future... even though company has a bad one...

I agree with Bose to a certain extent, that the company issues should not be discussed in public. But i have incline emotionally towards that satyam employee. I am not from Satyam but from another indian IT major who had lot's of changes in their organisation recently...

In our case we had represented until the top management and the management is dumb about it as it saves almost 6K to 12K per annum per employee who is coming on L1. The HR is refusing to here to the difference even though we confront with facts from USCIS based on the petitions that company has filed. The fact that Prewailing wages for L1 are not enforced as hard as for an H1. Infact the L1 is not entitled for Prewailing wages at all. The same has been updated 5 years back in case of L1 and for H1 it's updated every year...

I understand that in CTS this parity was corrected based on a law suit or some internal representation, and i believed this was the case only in my company.. but i recognise it's a global truth.. In that case instead of fighting against the system it's wise to leave that and go where you get more rather than cribing in the same org...

It fine to the extent when it is said that one needs to pursue a better job which is paying more than the one at Satyam. But the HR doesnt allow you resign either. They say itz againist the contract satyam has with its employees.
I dont see any mistake in discussing such topics in public forms which would throw some light on to the issues. Satyam practices a lot of process which are UNFAIR EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES as per the US laws.
As per US laws there cant be any contract between an employer and employee because of which the later cant resign from the company, itz all non sense.
A person on B1 is not suppose to work at onsite as a regular employee
Once at onsite the company has to pay the associate irrespective of the person being in project or out of project. But Satyam manages to keep ppl unpaid when they are on bench without project.
When a corporate like Mahindra Satyam which is making good profits is playing such cheap tricks and harassing its employees, all these issues when discussed in public would help others to make better decisions.
