Sanderson Farms creating 1,600 jobs in Lenoir County is wonderful for the people in that county. Most of the people that live in Lenoir County are poor middle-class working residents. With the closing of Smithfields Ham Processing Plant(built in the 1970's) the additional jobs are needed to increase the tax revenue in a struggling county.

Lenoir County has potiental to become a major city in Eastern North Carolina. But the problem is that conservative beaurcrats block any major corporation from building plants in Kinston.
