I am currently an assistant manager at a radioshack in southern california and for everything that the company itself expects, not to mention everything the manager dumps on me. I am way underpaid. And before one of you yahoos in someother radioshack tells me its me and not the company, you probably dont work in a highly hispanic populated area where if you dont speak spanish, you dont sell as much. It's not my problem or fault that the people that choose to live in this country, do not choose to learn the language.

good luck in your new job, if you can find one with that attitude. you should never have to work where you're unhappy. if radioshack makes you unhappy, leave. and to take it to your level.. "Don't let the door hit you in the @$$ on the way out." btw... I used to work for the Shack and loved it, had no problems with the performance pay plan.

I was a Radio Shack store manager for one year and an employee for almost two years. When I started, I was a MIT. I was working about 48 hours a week which I loved because I was getting overtime. My paychecks were about 900 to 1200 each check. (This is when they still had Verizon). Then they changed the pay and took away overtime. I got a dollar raise, but no overtime. Now, I was bringing home about 500 to 700 each check. Then, I became a manager. I was bringing home about 780 every check. Then AGAIN they changed the pay. Then I was bringing home about 600 each check. While I was working and making some really good money, I purchased a house, car, Dish Network, and many other items that I could afford. Now, I had to leave the company because I can not support the comtracts that I signed. Just before I left, I maxed out my Radio Shack Answers card and I am not going to pay on it. They keep calling me to make a payment, but I tell them how Radio Shack screwed me over and now I will screw them over.

So what is the pay plan like? I left in 2002, and heard that soon after the spiffs were cut and commission was completely removed.

That would tend to suck, as I did really well as a salesman - much better per hour than when I was a manager.

My employees used to think it was fine to be lackluster about the job, but failed to realize that it would get no better - and that making money for them (and me) was the best way to cope.

The upper management were all lying rat bastards however - they sold all of us a bill of goods. I was told, along with many other managers that the RS stock would be over $100/share by now, and that all managers with the company for more than five years would become millionaires through stock options.(Len Roberts tolds us and we believed - shame on us)

By the way is that %**^$ Kelly Prigorac still with the company? She was a real joy to work for.

when I as earning commission, the pay plan was set so that you earned either commission or minimum wage, not both. The breakeven was at about $100/hr. I usually was at around $250/hr in sales, and I used to earn more in cell phone spiffs than my commission. I was a T4 (does that distinction get made anymore?) and earned 8% commission on what I sold.

No idea what a "t4" is... I usually hit about 230 an hour... But anything above 75 is useless to me.

I just saw an ad for my local store, and they are hiring.

i think im going to go in and try and set up an interview/application process. Im in college, and i dont really need money, its more just so my parents keep paying all my college bills haha.

does anyone have any suggestions for getting the job? ive only had one real job before, and it was working in a supermarket.

anything will help, interview type questions, clothes i should wear, things to say they might like, maybe even a small fib or two that might boost their confidence in me.

thanks.

THat was an ignorant thing to say. Anyway, i know what it is to work in a highly populated spanish area in Bushwick Brooklyn. I do agree though that they expect you to do way to much for way to little. And the manager dumps everythig on the asst. manager. Radioshack is retarded.... I left a month ago, im at AT&T now, and their pay plan is on point.

I finally did something I shouldve done long ago. Walked out! Radio shack is a POS company that is only interested in fucking over their seasoned employees. Their work ethic is counterintuitive. The harder you work now the less you make cause everyone makes the same. Intelligence is dissuaded. No assistant managers means if you are a hard working employee you get a key and management responsibility without pay.

To those of you that so hate RS and your work, LEAVE! Welcome to the working and business world. Go to any other retailer and see how it is, like a drug or grocery store. There is no incentive pay AND you work MUCH harder. Where I work there are PT employees that make over $10 an hour every week. That's not bad for the work they are required to do. Is it as much as it used to be from all the stories I have heard - no. But then again, RS was about to go down the tubes.

I think that this website is a joke. You people want to sit around and bitch about Radio Shack?! give me a break. You that want to complain, what the fuck where u doing before radio shack?? i want to know why you left that job to go to Radio Shack if they were so fucking horrible!? I know that RS is kinda fucked up... there are a lot of things that they really do need to work on... but fact of the matter is, i bust my ass doing anything i can to make sure that my babies dont go hungry. You want to sit around and bitch and shit about how horrible it is to work for Radio Shack... well damn it leave, because i know that one less lazy, unmodivated sales associate, means someone who actually wants this job and pay check will get atleast ONE more sale a day because your gone. This is why u fuckers didnt last at radio shack... you want to bitch bitch bitch about how little ur getting paid, but you dont want to step up to the bat and try to change that. So Next time u want to talk shit about Radio Shack, sit back and think about where you would have been without what ever amount RS paid you. A little money can still be a big help.

I have an interview scheduled for an Assistant Manager position. After looking over the Radio Shack website it appears that they normally recruit from within vs. hiring an outside manager. Is this normally the case or is it a case by case basis?

Additionally, would somebody be kind enough to let me know what a realistic salary expectation would be for a sales associate and/or assistance manager? I've read conflicting information on the internet and it appears to be in the range of hourly at $10-$15 + spiffs or salary + bonus.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Pay for an ASM varies by market and the consumer base of your store. If you are headed to a store that doesnt perform well on average than your income may suffer. On the flipside if you apply yourself to what you are taught and have ample opportunity than you may do well.

It looks like the info you have written is accurate as far as pay is concerned.

For hiring experience on the inside helps but its not required. However some managerial experiance is needed.

Wow! With your attitude, no wonder you didn't do better. You have only yourself to blame. And with the vocabulary skills you have, RadioShack is very lucky to not have you as an employee. I know that I wouldn't be proud to say that you are part of my team. Do yourself a favor and have some pride in yourself. I am no prude but the language that you use only shows your lack of intelligence. There is a much better way to use the English language.
