I am glad my 6 year old granddaughter will be protected from seeing cigarette ads, but what about the other crap such as britney, and paris, and the rest of those hoes not wearing underwear. But then the state wouldn't get any money would they? You people have a misguided mental capacity. How about going after these people in congress telling our troops "the war is lost"AH reed from Nevada. I bet he never won any titles as a boxer.

Your daughter will be protected from cigarette ads, but she will not be protected from cigarette smoke, once she leaves her own house. Many restaurants still permit it, public parks, also the doorways of grocery stores, malls, movie theaters and office buildings are filled with it from their employees puffing away. Even a healty activity like taking a walk can subject you to it if the person walking in front of you carries a lit cigarette. Funny how trans fats and street drugs are prohibited but cigarettes are still legal. If the gov't won't ban cigarettes, they should at least restrict smoking to inside peoples homes. That way they can kill themselves and their own families without forcing their poison on the general public.

Instead of having to show proof of age to buy cigarettes, people should have to show proof of medical insurance every time they buy them - also rather than putting written warnings on cigarette packs, put pictures of the lungs of smokers on them.

No offense, but what is the point of showing proof of medical insurance?

ban loud motorcycles. The noise is offensive and could cause me to have hearing loss. That is detrimental to my health.
If the government tries to ban everything that people find offensive, we will have no choice but to stay in our own houses because we won't be permitted to do anything else.

Right, and I suppose we should have to do the same everytime we order a big mac or buy some booze. Or put Pics of clogged arteries or fat rolls on the Big Mac, that'd be awesome!

I agree the smoking ban should have passed in Allentown. It's been passed down here and I love it.

Other than that, they're taxed, get over it.

you can get other forms of cancer not just from smoking...smoking becomes an addiction that people have to have just like coffee some just can't quit and need it but that doesn't mean if they get cancer that it is good for them stop being negative.

I'm a non-smoker and I have to admit I hate being around smokers, because they stink and they make everything and everyone around them stink. Sorry, but they do. I also hate smoking because I've lost far too many relatives and friends to lung cancer (yes, I realize it was their choice to smoke, but still...)

Now, that being said; I realize that regulations are in place regarding cigarette ads in magazines, but I really doubt that very young kids are going to be reading Rolling Stone, anyhow. Too, I don't think that any kid of any age is going to start puffing away as a result of seeing one article in Rolling Stone. Presumeably parents are talking to their kids about the dangers of smoking?(and hopefully not puffing away on a cigarette while they're doing so?)

This isn't about banning things that are offensive. It is about ensuring that the tobacco industry abides by advertising rules that they have previously agreed to. Reading comprehension is very important when reading...

First of all Rolling Stone should not be in the hands of any child. And if your a parent that allows your 6 year old to read it then you have no one to blame but yourself when your Child wants to immulate Brittney Spears or any other trash/pop idol. Are you not teaching your children not to smoke, drink or do drugs? Parents...take responsibility for your own children. Stop blaming what they do on or you have allowed them to do on everything else such as video games, MTV, movies, TV, books and mags. If your child is out of control, so on and so forth...take a look at your parenting.

that way they can pay their own medical bills when they get throat cancer, emphysema, lung cancer and heart disease. Got it now?

http://www.revenue.state.pa.us/revenue/lib/re...

Based on the information provided by the State from the above link, they have collected $262 million in cigarette tax through October 2007. If people want to complain about smokers I think we should enact a "fat" tax for anyone who is considered medically obese on all fast food. Look at all the health problems associated with being overweight. Think of the windfall that would produce.

Whether or not my comments tapped into your own deep seated homosexual tendencies, it's quite evident what your intelligence level is. I don't expect to be dying of aids anytime soon, since I'm neither HIV positive nor suffering from AIDS, nor do I participate in any of the behaviors that cause AIDS. As an obvious smoker though, you'll very likely beat me to the grave. Hopefully you do carry medical insurance, as it's unfair for the rest of our insurance premiums
to increase in order to compensate for those who receive treatment for tobacco related illness but cannot pay for it.

I thought we were in the USA, land of the free! Free to make our own choices...
Cigarettes have been around for a very long time and have helped the economy greatly and now all of a sudden it's BAD....GIVE ME A BREAK. If you choose not to smoke that is your right but leave my right ALONE! And by the way do you all understand that cigarettes aren't the only thing that causes cancer...everyday you suck air in you have a chance of getting cancer. The gov't doesn't tell you about all the nasty toxins they force into our breathable air! No they rather have you all fight one another over silly cigarette smoke.

Get a clue people.
