I e-mailed Samm Farr regarding trash at the Arroyo Secco river in Monterey cnty.
He explained to me that it was " A local problem "
According to the S.W.P.P. All waterways in the state (dry or not) are WATERWAYS OF THE STATE.
Therefore are to be protected by the state.
And this man wants to continue to represent my concerns? He does not even know what the law is in his own county.
Vote this moron out. He has had enough time to make this county better and he chose not to.

Congressman Farr has been doing a great job for the Central Coast since 1993. Thank you congressman for your vote on Health Care reform and for Financial Regualation. You've got our vote.

Until we regain our thirst for individual liberty and equal justice under the law, we will continue to send socialist masters like Sam Farr to office. Sam, in turn, will continue to wreck what was once a nation of proud, prosperous, creative and free people.
I will continue to vote for candidates who promote limited government, low taxes and efforts to get rid of the mind-boggling array of government programs that suck the wealth out of us who work to earn it.
#12 May 16, 2010
negative. Wishful thinking. Farr is a good guy
and is correct on most issues.
#14 May 16, 2010
I can't believe after all the malfeasance and ineptitude as practiced by the Liberal Democrat Sammy Farr (learned from his father who held the seat for years before young Sammy took over) can still continue to vote and follow the agenda of the Socialist march toward economic hell with his Pro- ILLEGAL Immigrant baiting corruption!
#15 May 16, 2010
Oh, stop it. Your freepers have half a good idea, and the other half is all narrow-minded self-interest -- the kind that always comes back to bite you, and society, in the fundament.
That said, Sam Farr is kept in place by an anti-democratic apportionment system which ensures safe seats for Democratic AND Republican candidates throughout California. Ten years ago the pols took their little computer programs and gerrymandered safe seats for all of them. Even them reapportionment reform for state legislators doesn't cover the congressional districts -- the reformer knew the national pols from both sides would come down on them.
You are being oppressed by a master class that dominates both parties. "Small government" people like yourself are simply co-opted by one side. And you won't see it. If small government would solve the problems of this country, it would have done it 150 years ago, when we had slaves and pollution and people died in sweatshops, and financiers pillaged the nation and even the money wasn't safe (familiar?). I guess those aren't "true" Americans, though, so they don't count.

Sam Farr needs to go. He is an idiot. What has he done for this district. Nothing!!!
#17 May 16, 2010
I agree with you 100% I really have not seen Sam Farr out there risking his life to keep our streets safe. What a joke he is!!!!
#18 May 16, 2010
He seems to get into office everytime there is an election who is voting for him.
#19 May 16, 2010
Farr is the machine candidate, always backed by the usual suspects: the Democratic Party Central Committee, union bosses who tell him how to vote, and some ag money (for pushing veggies in schools!)

17th Congressional District
Good News: We can topple the Greed-Driven-Lobbyist-Dominate d Congress and create a Genuine Democracy. I propose two new processes to put us, the People, in control.
1. Direct Citizen-Officeholder 30-minute, publicly broadcast conversations every 30 days. Sound-bites will be rendered useless and the Citizen gets a real voice.
2. Open all Government Doors. No more back-room deals with Lobbyists and their poison money. Every conversation about public business, if an Officeholder is present, will be recorded and open to the public.
Sam Farrs most lasting accomplishment is his secret exemption allowing Corporate Agribusiness to use hyper-toxic Methyl Bromide, despite the World-Wide Treaty Prohibition. Uncle Sams chemical depletes the Ozone Layer and poisons the farming areas. He gives the corporate farmers this horrific gift in exchange for huge campaign contributions (for 15 years now). "Uncle Samism" will be stopped! But its going to take your efforts as well as mine. Please join the fight.

Vote out the incumbent!

Farr is not going to be "toast" just because you wish it, the reason he's been allowed to destroy this district and this country for the last 16 years is that too many people talk and write, and don't get involved.
I like Republican Gary Richard Arnold at www.ArnoldistheAnswer.com but you might like one of the other challengers.
Bottom line, if you want to get rid of Farr and make things happen, stop talking and start working for someone who can beat him.

Sam Farr is not a bad person but I disagree with most of his politics. He is part of the leftist "Progressive" Democrat machine funded primarily by big labor unions, which is fascinating. How many union members (not union bosses) are in favor of allowing more illegal immigrants into the country to bring down working-class wages? Do you really want your required union dues funding Sam Farr?
Don't take my word for it. Just look at who paid Congressman Farr's way to Washington. This data is courtesy of the Center for Responsive Politics who tracks camping spending.
Top 20 Campaign Contributors to Sam Farr
Congressman Farr is an excellent fundraiser--a necessary job skill for his chosen profession. Nearly all the money (99%+) from Sam Farr's Top 20 List came from Political Action Committees (PACs) instead of from individual donors. Nearly all this money is from contributors based outside of the 17th Congressional District and who DO NOT represent the views of those that live in the district (the possible exceptions are PG&E, American Crystal Sugar, and Blue Diamond Growers). The United Auto Workers? Really? Is there some car manufacturing plant that I don't know about? No doubt, this group will spend whatever it takes to keep Sam Farr in office.

Here is the campaign spending for the 2010 race so far. Congressman Farr has greatly outraised and outspent all of his opponents combined. With that advantage, I'm surprised that it's a race at all.
What can a voter do? If you have a contested party primary, vote for the best candidate (duh?). For the general election, give or volunteer for one of the opposition candidates. Do your homework and vote for one of the others come election day.

Check out all three Republicans in the primary. Pick one and back them, but I really think Gary Richard Arnold is the only one up to the task.
