wow, we're generally able to transmit 10 gigabyte/second today??

I wish. thats like 120 gigabit/second, when it fact, most consumer internet links are more like 7-15 megabit/second DOWNLINK (thats receive) and 0.5-1 megabit/sec UPLINK (thats transmit). There's 1000 Megabits in one Gigabit. and 8 bits in a byte.

today, asa business, if I wanted a 1gigabit/second symmetrical link (transmit as well as recieve), I'd be looking at 10's of $1000s per month.

someone needs to send your editors to computers-for-dummies class.
